I didn't know the audio system was that bad and had fake engine noise. This is also the second time I heard this truck makes people sea sick. Fuck that

It’s kinda ironic that almost everyone is saying the ranger is a pos mainly from “that’s what I heard” and yet I read threads were Tacoma owner themselves are complaining about transmission vibration, shocks too bumpy or stiff, tech is outdated, etc. Now as I recall, there’s a member who owns a 19 or 20 pro who just so happens to drive a ranger as a company car?? And gave mainly positive things to say. It’s kinda sad some judge off of “what I’ve heard”

It's called believing what you want to believe. For some, a single bad experience or report is enough to condem an entire model year. Every model has lemons but at least 9 out of 10 are fine. Unless the problems are widespread you have to base the decision on the features you need and hope for the best.

Test drove the Ranger before buying my DCLB-OR. Its snappy, but jittery as hell and the engine note is not ideal. Also don't like the 10-speed tranny. Terrible infotainment; tiny climate control buttons; no under seat storage...the list of negatives is pretty long.

I think Ford just wanted to get in the mid-size market. I am sure they will retool the Ranger soon to make it more competitive. Right now, its not.

I was just reading a MotorTrend comparison between a Gladiator and Ranger and they described the Ranger as:
Impressed as we were by the Ranger's peppy engine and laden capability, it comes across cheap - and we don't mean inexpensive. Basic and brittle interior materials, a useless back seat, tinny exterior sheetmetal, and a noisy unrefined drive make it hard to believe this is a 2019 vehicle. Even a decade ago, it would have felt entry-level. For those seeking a truck purely for work, the Ranger may be acceptable for getting to and from the jobsite, but not much else.

Seems like the domestic car companies have a habit of replacing their mini truck workhorses with worse versions before they come out with something decent. The first gen Colorado seemed like an equally weak effort.

I do agree on some of the things you’ve mentioned like the climate controls are too small and rear seat storage. But to be honest I wanted something I could have fun modding that can’t be done with the Tacoma and that was the turbo. If the Tacoma had that option then I probably would be driving a Tacoma. As of any regrets getting the ranger, no.

The 2nd gen Taco was 2" higher in the rear. Just a design tradeoff of optimizing for empty bed or payload. It's using a 3-leaf pack which may be soft, so higher ride height will become level when loaded:

Also note the rear disc brakes. I hope the trailer plug and exhaust tip routing are cleaned up for the production vehicle:

Honda should be ashamed of those Ridgeline numbers. Bring a REAL f'n truck to the market, already.

It would be nice to see a more traditional truck design, but I don’t see Honda doing so, at least not any time soon. I’m shocked the Ridgeline outsold the GMC Canyon.

Indeed. The GMC Canyon seems like a nice little truck (you know, other than being a GM product, LOL). It's kinda odd to me that the Colorado gets so much more love from the buying public.
