Went from 22 mpgs to 17-18 after a 3” lift and 285’s. Isn’t a huge deal but is there any mods I could do to improve my mpgs? Other than putting smaller tires on bc that’s not an option:cool:

Maintenance like spark plugs, maf, throttle body, air filter.

The Prius mod works, kidding. You added a lot of weight for a 4 banger and more rolling friction so get accustom to seeing those numbers. Just do the PM and enjoy the truck

Right on! Gears will get you much better mileage. If you can afford it having gears Cryo treated and rem finished would be even better for both MPGS and power. It will also make sure the gears last longer than the truck, even if you're wheeling a twin turbo build. The cryo treatment perfects the inner structure of the metal while REM finishing brings the surface to a super-low RA finish which translates to less friction during turning, smaller losses of power, and better economy when needed. That sounds like marketing jargon. When gears and bearings break in all the contact points turn into a mirror finish anyways. You're just not paying for something that will happen over the course of 1000 miles anyways.

I have been wondering how cryo treating effects break in on ring and pinons. It almost seems like it would be a better idea to install the gears break them in then have them cryo treated *shrugs*

Seems like the "old" method of heat treating them works fine and properly set up gears last hundreds of thousands of miles anyways. 300-400k ez if you service your diffs half decently and don't beat on them. Seems like cryo is a solution to a problem that doesn't exist. If the claimed science behind them is true it's probably only beneficial in high performance applications like F1 or Nascar:notsure:
