Does somebody has a guide or documentation on how to connect the power cables of a Dash Cam to the wiring behind the rearview mirror? Including removal instructions, thanks

I've seen on here, where people have wired them to the dome circuit. Some cameras have harnesses you can order for such.

Read thru this post here: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/cheap-good-video-quality-dash-cam.635752/page-3#post-21925643

has some good info on a wire that plugs into the back of your mirror that allows for a USB plug for your dash cam --just make sure if you have a 10 pin or 12 pin plug and order accordingly. Others have used a tap that just goes in behind the mirror.

Here's the Amazon post for the plug/usb plug https://www.amazon.com/SimpleUSB-Mi...rds=Dongar+Technologies&qid=1572539156&sr=8-7

Nothing to take apart, just tap the connector from behind with some flattened solid wire.

unplug your wire and count the number of pins you have...thats the best i can help you with. Either you'll have 10 or 12 pins

Put a meter on the terminals. The blue maybe always on and the brown is ignition switched. Be sure your dash cam doesn’t draw too much current.

I used this too, it’s the easiest thing ever. Don’t have to mess with any wires just plug it in, plug in your usb cord and you have power

    no, wrong voltage

The mirror on my taco runs at 12volts. You need a usb transformer for 5v

I ran mine behind the roof liner, down the windshield side of the apiller to avoid the airbag and to the console power port with a plug in. Took 5 minutes to hide the wires.
Look in my build thread electronics section after my ham radio write up.

You running your ham radio, dashcam, and radar all off the power from the mirror? Would think that would draw too much power.

Did you use the dongle from earlier in this thread?

Correct. Only the 2amp radar is off the mirror.

The dashcam is powered from the acc port in my console.
The ham is installed on a branch circuit purpose built in the whiskey compartment behind the rear driver’s side seat. I have an auxiliary battery and charger hooked up there as well so I can by on air, but not on battery. Decent write ups of all three in my build threads.

Was thinking about picking up the simpleusb for my truck, but I was stopped by "Not compatible with vehicles equipped with lane keeping safety features." My 2020 definitely has this. Anyone know the issue?

I don't know anything about the simpleusb. I just bought this for my 2020 and installed it a couple days ago. So far no issues. Lane assist works. No way to test the PCS but I don't think that is going to be a problem.
