So maybe there is a thread created already... but I searched “35s backspace” and “35s Milestar Patagonia backspace” and only found a few posts...

I recently made the jump to 35s Milestar Patagonia MTs... love the tire but I am rubbing my Icon Tubular UCA and sway bar... here’s my current setup...

    2017 Tacoma TRD OR

    Icon stage 4 lift

    Icon 14” #700 coils

OME heavy duty leaf pack in rear

    Relations race wheels RR4 17x8.5 0mm offset

previously I had toyo open country at 2 285/70/17 with no rubbing

now with the 35’s I’m rubbing my UCA and my sway bar at full lock.

from my understanding to figure out backspace the formula is:
    (wheel width/2)+offset+about 0.25in=backspace

I have no idea where that extra quarter inch comes from, but that’s the formula I found when trying to research this.

all that being said I believe my current backspace is 4.5in

    (8.5/2)+0+0.25=4.5

I have On order 1” Bora spacers which would effectively bring my backspace to 3.5

My concern is this may push the wheels out too far causing my scrub radius to increase and cause rubbing in other areas (fender wells)

I have an aggressive CMC, folded pinch weld, victory strike bumper..

I will be trimming fenders this weekend when I regear (5.29s) the rig this weekend...

Is a 1 inch spacer too much? I wanted to see how they fit before ordering thinner spacers and being forced to trim my lug nuts... does anyone have first hand info?

thanks in advance I really appreciate it!

    17x8.5" 0mm offset = 4.75" BS

I spidertrax spacers on my 4.5" BS wheels, bringing me to 3.25" and I'm getting ready to throw on a set of those same tires. Will be :sawzall: & :welder: soon.

4" BS is the sweet spot for 35's apparently. You want .75" spacers.

edit - i'd remove teh swaybar too...your front coils are heavy enough, that it's no longer necessary.

Your back space is 4.75 currently so you’ll end up at 3.75

Do, your current wheels have pockets, like factory wheels do, between lug/stud holes? If so no need to trim studs for Bora .75 spacers. If you choose to go that route.

sorry just trying to understand the math involved...

I thought the formula for backspace was

    (wheel width/2)+offset+0.25=BS

    so I have

    (8.5/2)+0+0.25=BS

4.25+0+0.25=4.5 back space... how are you guys getting the extra 0.25inch?

also from that thread I read, for most guys they were saying the sweet spot was around 4.25-4.3 back space... so I was planning on getting a 0.25 bora spacer to bring me in that area ... damn I thought I had this all figured out... again... damn lol.

I’ll have to check when I get home... I can’t remember off top of my head but I don’t think so...

Also... I’m barely rubbing at full lock... looking at the stance of my tires already... I feel like adding a 0.75 spacer is going really affect my scrub radius

OP can you give an update (+1 year later haha) with what you ended up with along with the necessary fender trimming? and hopefully confirm you’re no longer rubbing at full lock?

I now also have Patagonia Mts - 315/75/16 so I guess a tad shy of 35. 16" rims with 4.5" BS. dirt king boxed UCAs and a CMR. The CMR eliminated any cab mount issues for me. I pushed the LCA as far forward as possible. Basically rear cams forward and front cams back. I rub the UCA at full lock. So I grabbed some 1" spacers b/c I believe anything less than 1" I'd have to trim the studs (my rims don't have the inserts for 3/4"). With the spacers I clear the UCA no problem - probably only needed 1/2" so I figure a 4" BS would have worked but I'm essentially 3.5" now.

I also folded over the pinch weld and had to trim the rear portion of the fender. There is a work-in-progress pi. So far I trimmed the smallest amount just to clear. I've since removed all fenders and cut those 2" and may do the same with the actual fenders this weekend. I still need to cycle the suspension w/o the shock but so far so good. I do rub the wheel well in reverse on a slope but that's no biggie
