so on my last trip my headlamp decided to die (plastic tab that locks in selected light tilt angle.. so now its either dead on, or aiming at my forhead..)

looking for another/replacement. preferably something USB rechargeable, or takes AA/AAA batteries that I can get rechargeables for.. so far only candidate I kind of liked for the red light ability was the Petzel hybrids, with their ability to use either 3 AAA's or the Petzel CORE lithium packs that can be charged directly from a micro USB cable.. they run about $60 for one with the CORE battery..

ANY OTHER CANDIDATES? the price limit for me is under $100 for the unit, and battery pack. thanks, figured you guys would have more experience..

I like Petzel for reliability and simplicity, but not sure how this is Tacoma related, there's hunting threads.

Black diamond is my favorite but it drains battery real fast but super bright. Usually have to changed battery every time i go camping. "reload"

I use a Bushnell TRKR, it take 3 AA batteries, has white, red and blood tracking (UV) lights and is only $12. Ive had mine for about 5 years and its gotten beaten up pretty good by my son.

I'm good with posting in this thread. Change is good.

    I like the Coast headlamps.

this is why when looking at specs the petzel listed 60 hours on high.. I was kind of impressed.. my HP7R flashlight with the litium cell can only go for about 7 hours on high.. just want something reliable, and sturdy (kinda rough on my gear, rechargeable is nice because i carry a battery pack with me to charge my tablet, and phone when not driving, and charge the battery pack when I drive (looking for a better one that charges full in less than 3 hours off 12v, or the 120 bed outlet, not a fan of goal zero stuff (too pricey, and heavy)... should also mention I am night blind, I can only see ok in full moon at night, but not very well, so lighting is important to me.

I have the COAST HP7R, and HP8R flashlights... love them, used and abused the hell out of them at work smashed off cell doors, dropped from heights of aroun 6-8 ft onto concrete.. used as a kubaton for training. still works great.. and I love the recharge feature..

I dont mind that, but I would like to have the red light option, was a bit more pleasant when speaking to others in a group, and not blinding each other..

After rolling my ankle in a cave due to a shit light, I have a fenix HP30. Roll over to r/flashlight on Reddit and dig in. I believe there's a zebralight that's pretty popular. By once cry once.

There’s 6 output settings but it sure is nice to have the super bright ones even though you don’t use them all that often

I have a couple Black Diamond Storms. Tough, bright and reliable. Believe the rechargeable version is the ReVolt.

my HP8R puts out 700lumens, great for changing tires in the spread flood mode. and for vehicle inspections, but a headlamp is indispensible.. I'd rather spend a bit more for something I can trust to work everytime.. thats why I look for advice, and read a LOT of reviews.. lots of unscrupulous companies out that hyping their own products that are crap...
