The Bluetooth adapter would probably be OK as long as you had a cell signal, but would it work at all if you didn't have any cell signal?

this is awesome! i repurposed my old scanguage ii- was just laying in a box because the last car it would have gone into didn't require it-and installed into my 2019. I had to pay the 25$ to have it updated but it shows trans temps! I am using trans temp 1, along with engine temp, volts, and i don't know either rpms or mpgs. Probably rpms..... I mounted in front of the qui charger as i do not use that thing.

So the correct scangauge to buy is the scangauge 2 with x gauge? Or just the regular sg 2 ?

Scangauge II. The Xgauges are included. They are additional vehicle specific gauges.

Might be mentioned but you can buy a 20 obd Bluetooth adapter and get the Toyota add on for 10 to get both trans temps or all other inputs. Shit works.

Bluetooth only needs your phone nearby powered on... No cell reception needed.

May have been but I didn’t notice. Can you hook it up to a link where I can find it to buy?

the only "problem" with those obdII blue teeth things are that they remain powered up when you shut the truck off. The scII has logic to turn itself out- as far as i know. you don't want to drain your ba-tree do you?

ScanGaugeII does turn itself off after 15 seconds or something.

Correct. Scangauge 2 turns off or goes to sleep when you turn the truck off.

Ok I know this thread is about trans temps but I have searched TW for info on this but with that being said. The Scangauge II showing MPG is this going to be an accurate reading after things like re-gear and new tires?

Thank you so what would be the best way to go about actually tracking that?

Thanks for sharing the codes you have used. Helped me as I tried the website codes and nothing was working. This is how it looks. The TF2 is the trans temp, correct?

Anyone know if there’s a way to rig this to a ball mount? I have the Taco Garage DMM and planned to run one of these on one of the mounts once I get a camping trailer. If not, I’m sure I could find someone with a 3D printer to fab one.

Edit: nvm. Should’ve googled. I could make this work. https://www.campingworld.com/scangauge-mount-black-61465.html

You just remove the left pillar and run it in there. Then tuck the remaining cat5 cable just under the edge of the headliner. Nothing to it.

If you’ve got the newest version of the software you can measure the front differential temperature as well.

I bought mine for my 2G for transmission temperature mainly. When I put it in my 3G that became useless since I’ve got the MT now so I was monitoring voltage, coolant temp, IAT and TPS. The reflash granted me engine oil temperature and front different temperature which was pretty fantastic.
