I recently got a 3” Rough Country suspension lift done. I’m not 100% happy with what the shop did. First problem is they did the lift with strut spacers in the front and that’s not what I asked for. I don’t currently do a lot of off-roading, this is my daily driver, but I’d like to take it on trail here and there. I know spacers aren’t really meant for that. I’m looking for some suggestions as to what to replace the front with. I love the look and height of the truck. I’m willing to replace the back too if need be, but if I can get away with just getting the spacers out on the front and replacing the front suspension that would be awesome. Thanks!

There’s nothing wrong with spacers over the coils for cruising down a trail every once awhile, despite what you’ll probably hear after this can of worms gets opened.

The rev tek lifts that most dealers like to install, pre load the coil under the top hat with a spacer. Which is kinda bad.

i think you have that ass backwards. (Or I’m miss understanding what your saying). Best way to lift with spacers is to put the spacer between the coil and bucket, ie preloading the spring. That’s exactly what the adjustment does on quality aftermarket shocks. Adding the spacer above the hat will bottom the shock out which is why you see so many broken shocks with spacers kits. But I doubt you’ll get 3” adding spacer between coil and hat, so op probably has spacer above. That and rough country are not exactly known for quality, just cheap and high lifts.

to the OP, can you take a pic of where they added the spacer, both front and rear. That might get you some better reply’s.

I thought rough country only did strut spacer lifts? If so, you might of misunderstood what you were buying. If not, I'd go back and get what I asked/paid for.

I'd get some Bilstein 5100's and call it a day.. I don't have much personal experience with spacer lifts, but 5100's are a very reasonable way to lift the truck properly. My .02

I meant as it would ruin the stock ride quality. They ride horribly. I’d rather have a top plate spacer. But if he’s planning on smashing down a trail doing 50mph, then yeah I’d probably say don’t run spacers.

agree the ride quality goes to shit, but no more than cranking down on the preload on quality shocks. People think the adjuster is for ride height (and some companies even sell it as such), it’s not, it’s to set static sag.

Correct. I’ve seen that a lot here as well. “Just crank them down!”. I went with 5100’s from a economic standpoint. I’m gonna wear out shocks, and don’t want to get all the stuff to rebuild coil overs or send them out. Rather just yank the coil off and stick a new 5100 in and go.

Anyways, OP... go with god my son.

They are essentially the same as TRD OR shocks, that are ride height adjustable. I think you would like the better shock and spring rate of leveling your truck with 5100’s.
