Looking for any assistance in locating a clunk type noise coming from the front driver side of my 12’ Tacoma. Going at slow speed when you hit bumps you can hear something thud/clunk and you can feel it in your feet through the floor. It’s minor and not very audible. But the more you drive it the more you notice it. I can’t Unhear it or not feel it since I drive it everyday, seems like I notice it constantly. I had a shop look at it yesterday and they notice very minor play on both front lower ball joints, driver wheel bearing, and inner driver cv shaft (assuming ecgs bushing will cure this) but they said none of those really seem like they’d be causing the noise. Details on the truck are 2012 Tacoma double cab 4x4, 6” lift with Fox coilovers and 35’s.

I put velcro on my cell phone's "unbreakable" case and the truck's frame and took a video to find the noise it had. The velcro had adhesive on it and it just peeled off the case and the truck's frame when I was done. I purposely hung the edge of the velcro off my phone and the frame and it made it easy to peel it off. I've seen people use GoPro's as well.

Check your lower control arm bolts. They need to be tight. Do this with the truck sitting on the ground or on ramps. You want the suspension compressed when you tighten them. Just keep in mind that one tightens using the head of the bolt and one tightens using the nut on the back. I had this same problem and this is what fixed mine. Yours may be something else but it's the first thing I would check.

I replaced both lower ball joints today as well as the cv shaft and ecgs bearing. Still having the issues. Nothing appears to be loose...

I have went over this truck a dozen times both by myself and at a shop. NOTHING seems to be loose but the clunking noise is still present over bumps. This is aggravating

I'm having the same problem with my 2010 access cab 4x4. I have checked everything and can't find the source of the clunking. It only seems to happen when going over small bumps and constantly on stoned roads. If you figure out what might be the source please let me know.

The only thing I can come up with is my coil over (fox) I can’t see any visible play anywhere. But it sounds so close to the floor board and there’s nothing there except the upper control arm and coil over

Did you check your steering u joint? I checked mine and did the wire tie trick and it helped with play in it but that isn't were my noise was coming from like I hoped it was.

It's possible it could be from your coilovers and that's were my noise could be coming from as well. Everything does seem to be tight there though.

Sounds very similar to my issue I had here recently. I had checked everything on my suspension and could not find the issue. Talked to my local mechanic friend and he asked if I had checked my rack and pinion bushings. Sure as shit they were sloppy. 150k on my 2011. This ended up solving my issues. $60 in bushings and couple hours of figuring how to get them out without dropping the rack and pinion. Hope this helps

I will have to check my bushings out. It has been driving me crazy and my wife told me to just turn up the radio. The nerve. Lol

This noise seems like a loose bushing of some sort. It doesn’t sound like a metal on metal
Clunk but a clunk of something that’s muffled by a bushing soaking up the sound if that makes any sense.

It’s enough to feel it right at my feet too. Which may or may not mean it’s close to my
    Feet. It’s definitely noticeable.

The only thing I’ve been able to locate that has any play is something in the wheel. Hopefully I can attach a video but if I jack the truck up under the control arm and not the frame I get some side to side play in the wheel with an audible metal on metal clang noise.
