FYI...I ordered a bronze set 10/22 and on the 24th I received an email stating the bronze is on back order for 7-10 days as they are awaiting a shipment.

These will be going on my 18 BBP Sport. I also purchased the blue center cap "V" overlay and black spline lugs from them.

I plan to run 265/70/17 but after reading this thread I believe I will wait until my 2/1 lift is installed.

I tried to get these installed today and the folks at Discount Tire said the lugs didn't fit - couldn't grab enough of the stud. But looking back through this post it looks like many people didn't have any issues installing the wheels.

Any recommendations on the best way to have a shop fix this? Is replacing the studs the best way to go? If so, what kind of shop would do this sort of thing?

Or, is boring holes in the wheels the best option?

I don't have the ability to do either, so I'm looking for a shop to do whatever. Tires look great on the wheels, but I'm disappointed the wheels and lugs don't work without another mod.

My set is arriving Tues. I purchased lugs direct from Vorsteiner, so I better not have this issue. I'll test fit Tues evening and report back.

I ended up replacing the studs, and used the lugs that were supplied. I had the same issue with discount tire so I just ended up doing everything myself over a weekend

Read back through the thread. It really comes down to comfort level. Some have been fine with stock studs and some have opted for longer threads. I opted longer, with work, and with the others that have provided part numbers for longer studs, it’s really an easier swap than what I did.

Rather than paying $100 an hour, buy the tools and do it yourself it’s not rocket surgery. You can watch instructions on YouTube.

Paint your drum covers while you do it.

Good tip, thanks. After watching a couple videos it looks much less daunting that I assumed.

I test fit my wheels and using the Venomrex lugs and I got 6 turns hand tightened. I imagine I will get at least another full turn + with a lug wrench. I also purchased the ET lugs from Gorilla hoping to get more bite:

Gorilla Automotive 21134ETBC Black 12mm x 1.50 Thread Size Chrome Finish Small Diameter 6-Lug Kit, (Pack of 24) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00SF8FF86/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_6DC0Db80QJPC7

but the ET shank does not fit in hole. I plan to use the Venomrex lugs. As mentioned, some need the piece of mind of longer studs, and at the same time nobody has reported any actual issue using these wheels with original studs on road and/or off road.

I decided to take a pic of the thickness of the wheel mounting surface to the bottom of the 60 degree lug seat. This appears to be 3/8". Why is this considered "thick"? How much less could it really be? Is any other wheel much less? The issue is the short studs on Tacomas.

I will say that this batch was on backorder direct from Vorsteiner. Perhaps mine are thinner than previous batches? Maybe I got lucky...for once!??

Looks great! I'm about to install my bronze set on my 18 blue sport.
    1. Are you using lugs from Venomrex and have you had any issues with those coming loose, wobbling or otherwise?
    2. Looks like you dont have any lift? What tire are you running? 265/70? Any rubbing? If so what trimming?

1: Use the lugnuts that are provided. Zero issues.

2: I’m on a 4 inch Maxtrac lift with Bilsteins. I’m running 295/70/17 nitto ridge grapplers. Minor trimming in the front.

    thank you !

Glad to hear no issues with lugs. I'm going to stop sweating that topic. I'm going with a 2/1 leveling kit and 265/70 (maybe the Toyo OC ATII).

Thanks for taking the time to reply!

Just a visual reminder with an open ended lug nut of what the 5 1/2 revolutions of bite actually looks like.
Maybe that's enough, maybe it isn't. Time will tell.

yeah that’s scary, and what does the normal amount of revolutions look like?

From my (Pretty Basic) knowledge of thread engagement for a bolt you generally want a "few" threads showing on the outside face of the nut. But on a "lug nut" style nut with a closed end, the general rule of thumb is you want to get thread engagement equal to the diameter of the stud. So, in this case I would say its sufficient.

Now with that said, I would definitely change my studs if I was putting these wheels on my truck.

I agree with your analysis with the exception being that these are 12mm studs, and while I don't hand the parts in my hand at present, I don't believe the math works.

Before replacing, I was getting 5 1/5 ~ revolutions of purchase on the OEM studs.
@ the 1.5mm thread pitch X 5.5 revolutions, that comes up significantly short @ only 8.25mm of purchase.

I hear what you are saying. I don't know how much the lug nut threads onto the bolt with one rotation. Nor does it matter that much to me.

To cover 12mm you would need to use up about 8 threads total. So that is all I would pass on to anyone; If you feel like you got 8 threads, run it. If you don't, get some longer studs.

Agreed, and that's a number that in my experience, is not happening with these wheels without new studs.
