Maybe someone could use one of these pictures to their benefit when working on their truck. Now it should come up in a search.

That thread is a lot better than this one is. Lol. I looked prior to posting but couldn't find what I was looking for.

Thanks. Wish the fuel tank was bigger. Plenty of room for it to grow... with the LB.

It's a pick and it's there because a grinder with a cut off wheel was cutting the steel fuel filler inlet tube. We didn't want to a hear and feel a BOOM from a spark getting inside the fuel tank. Lol

No, I understand why you did it. I pictured myself looking around the garage for something that would fit in that hose. I doubt I'd have thought of that.

I tried a water bottle, a cap from a brake fluid bottle, a 6' broom stick (lol), and then the pick. Idk why I didn't grab a deep socket set with a short extension and use a socket. Whatever, it worked. Lol

Any special tools required to remove the fuel pump assembly besides normal wrenches, sockets, pliers?

You can do it with hand tools, yes, but having the special wrench makes removing the retaining ring easier. The ring is ratcheting and has 4 'fingers' that prevent removal. You'd have to keep a flat head screw driver handy to press the tabs back as you back off the ring. You might be able to rent the tool from your local auto store. To note, I didn't use the spanner wrench when I removed my retaining ring, I did however use a strap wrench to get it started. You could use a large flat head or a punch and tap it with a hammer to get it started if you wish, just take care to not damage the retaining ring if you intend on reusing it.

    Still thinking about it.
I wish mine looked like that under the bed lol. Makes me homesick for Arizona. Mine already has a permanent muddy debris coating. Alaska!

It is a clean frame. I expected it to be worse. The PO used the truck for his work truck and he works with boats. I've personally seen that truck on the launch ramp in salt water many times. The only serious rust I could find was the rear cab mount bolts were both crusty. The nuts were not rusty at all. The cab mount points are perfect.

I was in Adak for about 6 hours in 1985. We just got there and a storm was coming in so we had to leave port. We went through a crazy storm in the Bering Sea. It was awesome.
