I was rushing the other week before the weather dropped to wash and apply Wolfgang paint sealant with my DA griots polisher. Long story short I was in a hurry since it was dark and got a bunch of overspray from the spinning on the paint that I didn't see to buff out. Now I can spend a little tlc to remove it all (basically it looks like white paint splatter) but wanted to see if you guys recommend any easy quick detailing removal methods.

Use a clay bar. Should take it right off. Meguiars makes a nice clay bar kit for $20 at big box or auto parts stores.

you could also use a synthetic clay alternative (a rubber coated towel, basically). But I think real clay will work better in your particular case.

That's what I was thinking I have a clay bar. Think it will remove sealant?

I have used stoner tarminator to remove wax and sealant from trim and rubber with success. Depending on how bad it is, you may need to polish it off. I assume this was an sio2 sealant? Or is it a polymer or wax based sealant? It's possible you could maybe mix up some quick detailer + some of the sio2 sealant and maybe rub it off? If the sio2 can be somehow activated and turned back to liquid it could possibly just wipe off. Some ceramic coatings that are applied to thick can be re-leveled with more ceramic, otherwise its polish to remove.

It’s just a polymer paint sealant.

It’s not gonna remove it all. Honestly, I bet it won’t remove much. I’d hit it with a spray sealant when you’re done.

Just be super light with the hand. You’re not scrubbing. Just gliding.

Shouldn't be that tough to remove then. I'd try some bug and tar or waterspot remover, or maybe clay and a quick detailer like you suggested. Sio2 would be much tougher to remove.

I think any chemical method of removal is gonna be harsher on the sealant than a single pass with a clay bar and lubricant. I really don’t think it’ll take more than a once back and forth with the clay.

You could even use a spray wax/sealant as your lubricant if you apply it heavy enough, assuming it’s one of the slicker options available.

If it were me, I’d use some Megs Ultimate Quick Wax applied very wet, a once back and forth and see where you’re at. Might be all it takes. But you can use any product that’s slick.

Yep, i have a bunch of quick detailer, spray sealant, and quick shine stuff i'll probably try the quick shine (since its the cheapest) then follow up with a sealant spray to protect the area.

Side note: I've always used paste waxes like collinite 845, wolfgang or meguairs synthetic sealant, and had great results but whats this Si02? Is it a spray sealant similar hybrid ceramic? Just curious

Edit: just did a little gooogling found pretty positive things regarding si02. Seems like it's really simple to apply just spray and then apply a light mist of water. Wonder how the uv protection is on this

Sio2 or silica is what most of the ceramic coatings are made of. The spray sealants based off sio2 are pretty easy to apply and will give you the same great characteristics that coatings give at least for a short term. They can always be added to but you can also do that with products like Wolfgang Deep Gloss as they have a follow up spray for it.

Wolfgang deep gloss is pretty good stuff, I would say on par or better than spray sealants or almost as good as a "lite" coatings.

As for your removal question one of the first things to try is to add a little bit more of whatever you're using as it already has the solvents in it to break down the product and then usually you can wipe it right off. There is a finite amount of time you can get away with this trick. Obviously with a coating this needs to be done within the first hour. With waxes and sealants it could be several hours.

Now if this is on black plastic or trim that's another story.

Update: Weather was nice today (in the 50's) so i washed and clay barred a good majority of the truck. The extra sealant came off very very easily with some spray shine. And i followed up with a hybrid sealant spray. Thanks guys!

Also i sprayed down the undercoating really well and decided to FF the under carriage. In doing so i noticed a few rust spots behind the front drivers wheels probably from rock chips. So i'll be sanding that down and respraying in the near future or the spring
