Picked up a used cap for a decent deal but the bottom piece of my cap rear window is broken/missing. It's an A.R.E cap. What is this piece usually called and is it possible to buy just this piece? Would be within the red lines. It has a few rivets so it's looks like it is replaceable as it would be under a lot of wear and tear. There is a rubber seal still intact that slides in a channel. I really can't shell out $400 for an entire rear window.

Not the same piece. Not sure what this one is called, but it's like a hard kydex and goes over the deal. Mine is messed up too, just haven't taken the time to track down a replacement.

This part is called a "rear door contour strip". It is replaceable and can be ordered from any A.R.E. dealer with the serial number of your topper. You can find your closest dealer by going to www.4are.com and putting your zip code into the dealer locator. Hope this helps you.

Thanks for all the replies and thank you Bryan for narrowing it down for me. I googled "rear door contour strip" and found nothing that would be similar.
To me though, contour strip means something soft like a rubber seal which seals to the contours of the tailgate. The missing part is hard plastic.
I think I will end up buying a piece of aluminum flooring threshold, cutting to size and riveting to the existing door. Any thoughts or other ideas as I'm trying to get this done on a very small budget.

Does anyone know what this is even supposed to look like? Maybe someone here has the same cap and can share a pic? I can then look into fabricating something.
    Thanks

I'll get a pic of mine tomorrow, just quote my post during daylight hours so I remember. I also thought about making something for it myself.

Its basically a plastic / kydex / whatever piece that covers the seal. Mine had a 2 cracks in it when I bought the shell used, the guy thought it was called an "over flap" but wasn't sure. Hasn't bugged me enough to find a replacement yet.

Don't mind the dirty truck

Thats perfect and thanks. I'm sure I can jimmy something up and I am going to have to because the truck shop wants $100 for this edge. I'll take pics and post when I'm done.
    Thanks again

I believe this is the thing I'm trying to track down. What is the rear door contour strip attached with?

Aluminum rivets; look at the bottom of your rear window and you'll see them. As an aside, I tried a plastic welder on mine and it cracked again so I'm going to need to replace mine at some point as well. The rubber strip under it is stupid expensive as well- like $26.

If anyone finds a quality bulb seal (the seal that the window closes against) post that up as well, the one I picked up is already flattening out and not sealing as well as it should.

Has anyone seen a cap door seal like this (A)? I am getting bad water leaks becasue the flat flap (B) does not allow the topper door to close if its flush with the bed. Instead, it has to be moved about an inch back off the tailgate in order to close the door. Otherwise the cap is a perfect fit. Maybe use a peice of rubber in place?
