    82EAE921-EBA0-4E8C-9F36-CC3A101A04C3.jpg I picked up an 05 Tacoma last week and I’m working through all the minor repairs.

    In the process of swapping out the center console latch, I noticed the lid doesn’t stay up. The tension spring inside is broken and searching Toyota’s site for any tension spring hasn’t worked.
    Does anyone know the part or a replacement I can use?

    @BudMan

    This is a common issue, IIRC you can’t buy the spring, you have to get a latch assembly.

    Ahh interesting. Given the predominance of the latch breaking, I didn’t even notice if some were kits. thanks!

    edit: I think I found it!

    Lol I wasn’t driving the truck much and hadn’t ordered the latch. In a weird twist of fate I ordered it about an hour before you tagged me

    @xtreme496 this is what I bought. I have the opposite problem though, my spring works too well and console won’t stay shut

    That was missing on mine as well, when I got the inner cover off the lid a shattered spring came tumbling out.

    I have a small tablet stored in my lid. Weighs just enough to make the door fall. I need to look for a stronger spring i guess.
