Towing leaf spring helper removal

    I just picked up a 2008 single cab from my parents. They bought it from their gardener. The truck rides extremely rough in the rear. I took a look and discovered the extra helper spring the Gardner added due to the need of hauling his equipment. I want to remove this spring because I do not tow anything, and I want to improve the ride quality. Is this a basic job ?     did removing them lower your rear end?

    I saw these type of helpers on Amazon.com, some say it raised the rear up a little. likely bc stock ones are worn out mostly.

    Actually it sits about the same. I couldn’t tell a difference visually. The ride was a million times better though.
