Im looking to purchase a performance exhaust system with moderate sound and gives more horsepower to replace the factory exhaust and Ill be pairing it with a K&N CAI.

What performance exhaust systems would you recommend and why? Thanks!

Most people will tell you that there are no HP gains to be made, just more noise with aftermarket exhaust and intake.

I have heard that. I think the K&N maybe boosted a little. Definitely improved the sound, at least in my ears.

If I calculate how much it will cost me for this upgrade a number roughly between 1000 to 1500 installed. just for a little things to gain horsepower and more noise inside the truck, nice :)!

Save your money. There are no noticable power gains, and the Tacoma V6 will never sound good.

This. You should listen to one of our trucks with an aftermarket exhaust before buying. My neighbor has one and it sounds absolutely awful and it's loud as shit. Riding in it is even worse.

I got a new exhaust system. Not for performance or sound, but because my old one rotted out on my 06. Lol.
My fuel efficiency went down 2-3 MPG.

As others have said, doubt you'll see any real performance gains. I have a TRD sport exhaust on mine...has nice throat when you're on the gas, doesn't drone at cruise. Have had a number of people comment that it sounds good...increased performance?... doubt it.

TRD exhaust. Don’t let any of those manufacturers that boast 15-20 % gains get your money they full of shit. The trd sounds good isn’t crazy expensive but no gains to really speak of.

I'd like to get the TRD exhaust, pt910-89061, just because it looks cool. The tip says "TRD" so obviously that adds 25hp right there :)

Not much is going to make this 4.0 sound good. That being said, in my opinion there are 3 options if you must have something: Gibson single pipe cat back (I have it :)), TRD catback (popular) or the free cat back (stock:thumbsup:).

Old vehicles used to have restrictive exhaust systems . Party because of older design catalytic converters, tiny pipes and badly routed exhaust systems. But manufacturers have improved them greatly in search of engine efficiency, and meeting noise drive by levels. They're not the absolute best for every vehicle, but they are pretty damn close. Plus they last quite a long time as well.
Most don't add any horsepower that you can actually feel. Just increased sound. Which makes you feel like you've gained power.

Personally l'm pretty sure that l wouldn't be able to notice and increase in 5 or 8 HP

    But that's just me.

I installed the TRD exhuast when the stock one rusted out in a couple spots a few years ago. Not really loud but it's throatier than stock. Easy install.

I replaced the exhaust on my gen 1 (from cat back) on my front lawn in about 30 minutes. It was a no brainer. Do it yourself!

After years of waffling I finally did a magnaflow muffler (18” version) and for a v6 I’m happy with it. It doesn’t drone at all & the truck at least has a little character now.

    https://youtu.be/PhCewDFyQMs

only cost me $250 to have a legit exhaust shop reroute my low hanging crossover AND do the muffler swap.
