Good progress on the sticks. Got it figured out and all welded up. I am waiting on some shrink wrap for them and then I’ll get the center console back together. 5B179FA8-F2CA-4FA1-8230-69E21A524ADC.jpg 0B5FF9DE-7F0B-4C86-B585-544DDBA2AD5C.jpg E4DE4516-0D17-466C-AC99-A20A1483A387.jpg

I’ve been sitting in my truck lately pretending it’s drivable...a bunch a little shit left to do.

I’ve been trying to get some things accomplished on the truck but it’s been tough. I did round one for the steering column connections and it bound like fuck. I decided to Channel through the shock tower and simplify the steering. I will Sleeve the cut with 2” tubing. 20FD69BC-E136-4E04-9F30-8827C1A77DF5.jpgB687B86E-F334-45EE-8A28-7F91A21B6515.jpgimage.jpg

Build looks good. The little stuff always takes a while to button up. You just gotta keep making forward progress.

The ABS tone ring is on the birfield, 80s are full time AWD so the axles spin with the wheels. If you run locking hubs the axles no longer spin when in 2wd so the ABS wont get a signal. Marks 4wd makes a kit to move the tone ring to the wheel hub so the ABS still works with a part time axle.

    https://www.marks4wd.com/mfk2045.html

All this to say it doesn’t matter, you can keep ABS with either axle using that kit (theoretically because I don’t know if 80s and Tacoma’s have the same pulse count).

ABS axles do however have larger brakes. You have to run 16”+ wheels on them and can run 15s on non ABS. The other difference is the boss in the knuckle for the ABS sensor but that only really matters if you want to run Slee steering arms. I am running non ABS knuckles on an ABS axle in my FJ40.

    Looking good, Pat.

Coil overs still clear with the steering tube through there? Can’t wait to see this up and going again!

Been a while since I posted. Did a bunch of miscellaneous engine bay clean up and frame painting. Repainted all links and bars. Waiting for my buddy to tap my steering box. My king air bumps come in today so hopefully I’ll get those installed and then maybe do my exhaust. I need to regear the rear to 4.88. I’d like to go 5.13 but don’t want to spent the money to do front and rear.

Weather, side jobs for truck parts money, kids and the holidays are really slowing down wrapping things up....

I'd consider plating in that panhard frame mount, I've seen that style crack because they aren't fully boxed in. Really don't know why it isn't from the manufacturer.
