i have access to some of the best alts made period and only uses OEM parts unless other wise stated.
We are currently working on a series dual alt billet case for a total of 540A at idle and will have minimal heat soak as the alt will be running nice and cool, low temp and efficient.

He has a wide range of platforms as well, pretty much any Toyota you can think of, life time warranty on labour as well.

cheap enough that if it breaks after warranty you can replace it.
A good quality alternator that uses OEM parts will cost you double that

So my 08 trd would be able to power a 2000 w rms amp on a stock alt and not ruin the battery or alt?

Are you going to be using all 2000 Watts all the time? Assuming no thermal/electrical losses that is 166.7 Amps.

With Audio even cranked you never run at full wattage all the time so you might be fine without any crazy upgrades.

As of right now I’m running a 1300w peak amp. I’m using like a steady 900. I have 0 gauge wire. It dims every light on the truck pretty bad. For some reason it keeps on melting the wire and the fuse housing too. Makes no sense. Not like I can go any bigger than 0 gauge wire. Thanks for the reply tho.

Yeah you can. 0/4 is the largest.

If your willing every light then no your alt isn't big enough. You also should do the big 3 upgrade.

You should also be aware of hearing damage you are causing yourself. Go easy on the volume. Hearing damage is not reversible, it's permanent.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
@Blackdawg I see you're running a GM alt... At least you were 6 years ago, when this thread was made lol...

What are your thoughts between the GM alt and the Grand Vitara alt people are talking about now? I'm going to do one of these soon. Trying to get some thoughts before I decide which way to go.

    Cool!

I'm sure it works fine. However it's still a denso unit so I'd guess at idle it out puts 30-40 amps max.

That's the advantage of the GM one, it's 80-100 amps at idle.

Both with keep everything charged just fine with you driving around a lot though. So it kind of depends on your wants/needs are.

The GM one isn't any harder to install especially if you get the plug n play harness you can get for it now on eBay or Amazon. Just go to Ace and get a steel spacer from the bolts section, little sanding/filing/grinding it down to fit perfect and your good. Then upgrade your wiring. Easy.

I'm sure that unit will do just fine though if you wanted it.

Only reason I was thinking the Grand Vitara alt was that I really wasn't sure how much of a pain in the ass the GM one would be. Sounds like the GM alt isn't all that much harder, or costly. Maybe I need to focus more attention in that direction lol.

Nah it's pretty easy. And really affordable too, $135 bucks I think..not bad for 140 amps and high idle output which no "high ouput" rewound stock one will do.
