My kids play travel hockey in NY/CT, so we have a lot of cold, early mornings. Every car I've had for the last 15 years has had heated seats which was nice on my aging back, but the used '16 DSC I got doesn't have them and I'm missing that option now that my sciatica is reminding me it exists. I'm looking to add seat heaters, but want them front and rear for my kids' sake. Are there any REAR heaters available? Is a mod for regular seat heaters as simple as tapping in a length of wire or two for when the rear seat gets folded forward?
    Anyone done this installation?
If this has been a topic before I couldn't find it with a quick search. If I was just too lazy, a link to the prior discussion would be great.
    Thanks for any help!

The fronts can be done with any of the kits out and then add switches. Usually cut to size for bottom and lumbar. The rears would be little more difficult running wires with the way the seats fold up. Need extra room and wiring. Plus is a two piece seat in the rear. Id just put them in the fronts for you and your passenger and give the kids a blanket. Problem solved

I've tried the blanket method. It usually gets dragged on the ground walking to the car. lol

No extending any wirings under the seat. Theres enough slack to move it up and down. Only extension was for the constant 12v line.

Been working on this for a few days. Heaters installed in all 4 seats, seats back in and switches connected. Now, the set I got (linked above) include 3 wires- red (battery positive), black (battery negative) and then white ("access, key, door, ACC"). WTF is access, key, door, ACC??? I assume it's something that's only on when the truck is on, so my kids can't leave the heaters on and drain the battery. The wire kits have inline 15A fuses, so I shouldn't need to add a fuse. Right? The instructions they include show the white wire being bolted onto a post-like bolt with a bunch of white wires on it. That seems like some old style wiring, since I don't see anything like that in my truck, and I've taken a LOT of it apart to get to this point. Any ideas where to attach that white wire? I've got the three wires to attach, put the trim back together and I should be able to heat the seats, just in time for spring to hit! lol
    Thanks for any help.

This is the big draw for taking my wife’s car North on winter weekends. The Highlander has heated rear seats for the kids but, then again, Dad’s Tacoma can do some wicked fishtails in the turns and the music tends to be way louder. Rear heated seats in the Tacoma would be the clincher.

Got these installed weeks ago thanks to staying home all the time. Finally went for a family drive yesterday and everyone has nice warm butts/backs. Probably like 12 hours of labor and I've never done anything with seats before besides remove them to clean carpet after a huge Coca-Cola spill on a light rug. Doing the rear seats was much easier than the fronts, other than a little extra wiring work to get them to fold up and not have extra wiring all over the place.

LOL, yeah. My father's cars always had ice cold winter leather seats, and nobody was allowed to eat/drink in his car, and windows weren't to be rolled down "because that's how dirt gets into a car!" He's a lunatic. :)

RANDOM TIP- MAKE SURE YOU RUN THE WIRES FOR THE CORRECT SIDE'S HEATER TO THE CORRESPONDING SWITCH! :frusty:

Thought I blew a fuse or something on my driver's seat heater one day when it wasn't getting hot and I was alone. Next day (much warmer) my wife got in and turned on her heater, only to keep complaining that it didn't work, while I was sweating bullets. I ran the wires to the wrong switches! At least I know what's "wrong" and don't "have" to fix it, but it's pretty annoying to have done all this work and find out I messed up something as simple as running the wires to the correct switches. Maybe I'll fix it. Probably not. Unless I add something else down the road that requires taking the whole console apart again.
