It’s gonna be the next big thing in Overlanding. I’ll be back in a bit I’m gonna go make a new Instagram for selling and promoting Overland gravity:cookiemonster:

Nice truck! Nice fabrication work! I have a 1985 Toyota 4x for rock crawling and a newly acquired 2008 Taco that is slowly becoming an "over-lander".

Thanks man! I’d love a dedicated trail rig one day. I definitely do more with this truck than I should with one I drive to work every Monday that’s for sure hahaha. And I prefer the term offroad camping. I’m not mainstream enough to be an overlander lol

Not much progress on the truck lately but house mods are going strong. Also been working on the old ford a little here and there to get it ready to possibly paint it in the spring. Also we had a pretty massive ice storm beginning of December so I was working between 30-60 hours of OT a week trying to get that mess cleaned up. And due to circumstances some friends of ours had to give up their dog so now we have a Pup that loves being outside so I got an excuse to buy more camping gear:thumbsup:

gotta move the shed over a little further and take a couple trees down but eventually I’d like to build a shop about where the ford is sitting

Okay so. Chux was nice enough to grab me a spreader bahh from CVT on his cross country trip many moons ago. Wasn’t really in the market for one at the time, I didn’t even know they existed at that point but it was an awesome gesture. Most trips I didn’t think to use it or just plain forgot to bring it but after seeing chux’s hold the tent tight to stop wind from flapping his shit at fpk I brought it last October. That was when I found out the one I got was junk lol. Non adjustable where his was telescoping with a twist lock and the clips to go on the bars of the tents were actually too small. First time using it it actually broke from trying to force the clips over the poles. Few days back looked on CVT website. $25 for a spreader bahh and $19 for shipping:rolleyes:, did a little research and for $18 total I made this unit. Top is the one I made, bottom is the strange, non fitting, non adjustable one from CVT

The one that comes with it is difficult af to get snapped to the other bars without forcing it. or feeling like I’m going go break it.

a telescoping one is a great idea!

So you got a fixed length one too? Chux’s is a telescoping twist lock with larger “C’s” on the ends like the one I built. Bobby is a great dude and his customer service is fantastic but from my experiences and seeing other tents you can literally order two identical tents and they will both have a ton of differences. I guess it’s all what’s on the pallet from alibaba before he rebrands them and hikes the price up:notsure:

So the tacoma has been on the back burner for a while but not for good reason. The 79 ford got new axle seals, rear brakes, tires, and an almost finished flatbed. Got a few things to finish up on it like rub rails, winch install and finish up the rear plate and wire up the lights.

min the mean time since the truck is 100 percent usable now, I took it on it maiden voyage and did a 180 mile round trip to go pick up another older ford and bring it out to @HolyHandGrenade Tims house.

    83BA0668-2641-4D31-8DCC-B9E7C10D9733.jpg

I’m getting back into showing the tacoma some love in prep for hopefully a trip out to moab again this year. Gotta clean and paint the sliders and rear bumper at some point and install a new set of hubs and rear shocks. I did get a new to me scooped hood painted and installed though. Came out pretty good and the diy paint job is pretty damn good. Definitely came out better then I had expected and the color match is way close enough for a truck that gets bounced off rocks and smashed through the mud

Well scoop hood is good for 57 3/4 so add that to the stock 4 banger and I’d right around 69:bananadance:
