Hey All, I am looking to add some sort of rubber boot between the cab window of my truck and the front fold down window of my drifter. I have a first gen tundra that has the rear window that slides all the way down. I am not having any luck finding any rubber trim that I think will work. I found one company that sells a rubber accordian boot but it requires the removal of the rear truck window. I am wondering if anyone out there has done something similar. I am thinking it would free up some storage space and allow passing things to the back seat of the truck without having to get in and out of the drifter. Thanks in advance for any input and picture included for reference. IMG_20191206_100023.jpg

There used to be a company out there that mad that exact thing. Granted the last one I saw was on a first gen taco I think. sorry I don't remember the name.

Snugtop still has this as an option. You could probably buy it as a part.

This is where I'm stuck. I originally planned on 4.56 on my 2nd Gen Auto since I'm running 33s and maybe won't go past 34 anytime soon but i'd love 35s. I wanted to wait till sometime late next year at the earliest but after driving my truck the last week with the drifter, you can tell the engine is working harder with stock gearing pushing around ~6450lbs (front and rear steel bumpers with dual swingout + sliders + 1/4" steel BAMF Skid Trilogy). I wouldn't mind going to 4.88 to "future proof" the gears but I also want to be able to go comfortably more than 70mph. With the weight of my truck, glad I upgraded to the stoptech BBK last year.

Im sure that people were oh so confident about the Flippacs, where is that company now?

I still think that having a bare or black powder coat is the best option for resale value. If you guys want to get a rose pink or shit color option because you are so sure that it will sell like a hotcake why dont you go for it yourself?

Idk. I just ordered 4.88 and didn’t think twice.

The big reason is I barely travel over 70, don’t like downshifting to go up a hill, and want my 4LO back.

Oh and also want 37’s in the next 2 years. But anywho, most people with auto in a 2nd gen who went 4.56 told me they wish they just bought 4.88’s instead.

I'm afraid I don't quite follow how removing the stock 1/2" thick shitty plastic bed caps before installing the camper would cause the bedside to crack. In fact, I'm not even sure I know what a bedside is, let alone how it can crack. Maybe I'm on crack?

Admittedly I totally sabotaged this thread with a Tundra / Nomad question: There is no such aftermarket bed cap yet available for my truck, which is why I'm looking for alternate means of weatherproofing the abutment of the camper to the stock bed cap. But like with most things, I'm probably over-engineering this. Spending 10 minutes with a caulk gun will probably get me 99% of the way there.

The cap that sits on top of the bedside is like a protector. It helps keep the bedside from cracking when load is put onto it. I'm not sure if it helps distribute load better or not, but it does surely help. also, it keeps your bedsides from getting scratched up (ask me how I know).

I have firsthand seen bedsides crack from a heavy shell on top. Most of the time, it's not the actual bedside cracking (like a huge crack down the side), but instead it beginning to crack around the bolts on towards the front of the cab. If you peek between the gap from the cab to the bed, you'll see the bolts I'm referring to.

You can think of the bedside cap as a condom. It helps from causing complications :D unless you want those complications lol.

I sold my Flippac to put money towards a Vagabond. If anyone is reading this thread and thinks the two are comparable, they aren't. Don't waste your money on a Flippac that will have cracking fiberglass, twisted/ready-to-snap torsion bars, absolutely no waterproofness, etc.
