Anyone have any thoughts on this firearm?

I have an opportunity to pick one up for ~$400.

They are $445 new on their website if that helps... Is this like a black Friday thing or buying used from someone? I like a 7.62x39 its almost as hot as a 30-30 and in my mind I always wondered why the 300 blackout was ever made cuz its basically capable of the exact same thing. Its neat it a slightly better platform than an ak or sks for less money than either

Brand new, with 2 mags and iron sights for under $445.

Just trying to get others opinions/experiences. I already bought it (pretty much), just waiting to pick it up.

I don't have any made by Bear Creek, but I do have 16" Radical upper, and a SBR I built. I bought the Radical upper just because, and was making the rest of the rifle out of my leftover parts bin, so it essentially became a cheap as possible build. All that said, out of all the expensive ARs I have bought or built, it's my go to rifle, and almost always goes everywhere with me. It's just great all around, it's cheap enough to get knocked around, accurate out to just under 200 yards (never tried this rifle any further), has plenty of power for defense, hogs, deer, etc. Big thing is, it's cheap to shoot, and let others learn, practice, have fun without burning a ton of money or me scrounging around looking for expensive brass.

The benefit of 300BLK is that it uses all the same rifle parts as 556 other then the barrel. And you can buy or load good ammo for it. 7.62x39 has always had mediocre selection of good ammo but a good selection of cheap ammo.

My experience with 7.62x39 ARs is magazine reliability. The very tapered x39 round can have a hard time in the curved-to-straight AR magazines, it proffers the very curved AK mags. When you get good reliable mags its a fine setup.

    Well, here is the update.

I have the rifle, I guess the gun shop messed up the order. Instead of the 7.62 I was supposed to get, I ended up with a 556. Not sure how it happened, but I did not notice until all the paperwork and stuff was completed.
Not really sure if it is a win or lose situation. I just decided to keep the 556 instead of swapping out. This is my first AR, and the last thing I need (yet another expensive hobby).
I have yet to run any rounds through it as I have not had the time or daylight to do so.

Maybe they will let you keep the gun as as and give you a free (or at cost) x39 upper because of the F-up. After all, AR is a Lego gun.

I was thinking the same thing. The lower is multi caliber, so all I would need is the 7.62 upper to compliment it, correct?

556 is good too, best place to start really. I just assumed you already had one.:D

The manual that came with it says 223, 556 or 308. So any of those can be shot from this rifle? 3 different rounds can be fired?image.jpg

And yes, my other hobbies include carpentry, wood working, fly fishing, my truck and (flame me here) my JEEP. I also have 2 kids and a wife.

Just .223 and 5.56 which are virtually identical. The manual is just a universal one shared between AR15s and AR10s.

Understood. The 308 is for the AR10.

    Ok. So here is a good question;

If this will fire 223 or 556, which one would be better, more efficient, safer, cheaper, etc....... Does it matter?

Starting out? whatever is on sale! They're virtually identical short range out of a carbine.
Keep your brass ,,,,, thank me later

Honestly, .223/5.56 is probably a better caliber to start out with. Much cheaper and more fun to shoot, especially out of an AR platform.

Like others have said, pick up what is cheapest for now. Just practice and put rounds down range.
