FYI- If you go to a proper body shop now, make sure they grind it down to bare metal and start fresh. You never know what that Craigslist-guy used underneath the primer/Bondo and you don’t want the body shop to just add more filler onto his shitty repair.

If it was me, i’d do what others have suggested and rocker guard the entire side, then buy a can of colour matched paint, watch a few videos and blend it myself. Fluid Film inside the rocker and hope the shitty repair lasts a few years.

Unfortunately, now it's going to another 1/2 to whole hour added to that $1,200 bill to remove all the CL poo. Add rust and sliders, expect bill to be even more.
Not tying to be harsh, but you did ask for advice in another post in November, and got several warnings of proper repair.
Good on you for owing it though, I'm sure others will remember these results, when think the quote is too high.

Fascinating.........this is far and away the best quote in this thread.

Please expound on this.....I'm having a hard time visualizing it.

    To the OP:

Do you really need 60 people telling you that you fucked up and to do this right?

If so, let me be #61 - You did something very dumb after ignoring sound advice to take care of this the correct way.

    Now make it right.

Stop posting now and make the appointment at a "quality" body shop. If you make another post, it should be showing the pictures of a real repair.

It's not too late to get it fixed right.

Get a couple of quote from several reputable shops. When it's not insurance work (and they know they don't have a captive audience) you may be surprised at how some shops may be "hungrier" for your business compared to others.

Is it me or is everything on Craigslist a scam anymore? Any vehicles you post you post on there are automatically responded with scammers trying to get you to send them money so your money can get released. I'm over craigslist...

Its hit or miss. I just emailed someone about a set of trd pro 4runner wheels w/tires for $400.... ended up being a scam, but about a month ago I scored a trd pro fox suspension for $150. Ended up being real, dude was super cool and met me down by the mall halfway between our houses.

I bought a powerwasher from a lady off craigslist who provided documentation that it had been serviced recently. Dumb me didn't verify it worked. Got home and tried to start it up a couple days later and couldn't. Took it to a shop and they said it would take as much as I paid for it to get it running. Plus potentially more if there were any issues with the power washer portion. Live and learn.

I'm not trying to be combative here, but the quote was not too high, it may have been more than you have, or are willing to spend right now. The $1,200 quote is the going rate to get the job done right. Again, I'm not trying to kick you when you're down, but please understand the difference.
$400 is in fact, too low

All good man. I learned my lesson. I just don't want others to make the same mistake as me.

Straight up man, how much was your collision deductible?
Because whatever it is, that was way less than what you’re going to be into this now..even if you had to take a hit on your premium for a couple years.

And to everyone trying to make a solid recommendation to have it done right now, let me tell you what that looks like..

No reputable shop is going to work over that butcher job.
Especially after dude put holes in it with an old school dent puller instead of welding studs to it.
Everywhere decent you go won’t touch it, or will want to replace the panel now, and you’ll be lucky if it’s less than 5x what you got quoted before.

Also, even in SoCal, it’s already rusting.
I’m sure craigslist guy doesn’t know that Toyota wants epoxy over bare metal before any filler, and I’m also sure he didn’t backside the rocker with cavity wax.

    Tough lesson learned here

I would consider taping it off and using a plastidip or bedliner to make a ruberized line.

A few layers and it would look pro.

I would take the spray on bedliner route. Tape off about where that crease line is in the door down the sides and bed of the truck. If it happens again re-apply.

I was wondering the same thing; in order to warranty and prevent rust, that a good body shop's only solution is going to require cutting the panel out and weld in a new one.
For those that say spray shit over it, I think what @JS760 is saying is; due to what is most likely incorrect prep (really lack of) on backside and holes being drilled, rust will most likely be an issue from inside out, so gooping more shit on the exterior isn't going to fix rust.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Looks like there's a lot more than 1/8" of Bondo on there...

I've seen a lot of dealers who have body shops attached. There's a Toyota dealer about 20 min from here that has a body shop.
