Thanks. I'm still waiting to hear back from the dealer on what they think needs replaced.

I should do some reading on the fluid film application so I can keep this new frame in better shape than the last.

Got my truck back today from doing the inspection and corrosion reduction or whatever its called. I didn't get to speak with my normal service rep but from what I can tell they plugged the holes in the frame and coated in the inside with a fluid.

Wait, what? I’m not sure plugging is part of the process or do you mean drilled holes were plugged to protect the inside area of the frame? If you mean rusted holes were plugged then you may need to talk to someone who knows what they’re talking about.

No, I mean plugging the holes in the frame from original manufacture, not rusted holes. It appears they sprayed inside the frame then plugged the holes. My frame is in good shape...thankfully I don't see much salt.

Ah, very good. The inside spray is what never happened for mine, even after paying the dealer to do so from new. So yeah, I failed to check their work and should have taking it to a reputable shop instead. Heck, they didn’t bother even when applying the CRC so mine rusted from inside out.

Anyone tried getting a new inspection after your truck was inspected back in 2013 and passed? I just bought a 08 a few months ago and according to the dealership. The truck was inspected and spayed in 2013 by a different dealer, but i would like another inspection before my 12 years is over.

Yes you can get it inspected again. Clock is running on an 08 so get it scheduled.

@Arrow2013, yes. I bought mine used at dealership in 2015, and they inspected and coated. ( I had no idea about this shmozz, my first Taco).
Anyways, got it inspected a couple more times in last 2 years. This year as time was running out, my frame was rusted, but no holes that I could see, and their CRC was peeling off all over. Anyways, asked for one more inspection, they said they'd give it a coating ( I told them they'd done it before. They didn't see it in they're books ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.)
So they go to start, and they found 2 holes, right under front tow hooks.
I now have a new frame!

Yes my 08 was inspected several times and coated several years ago. The dealership did a crappy job applying the coating as it flaked off quickly. It wasn’t until now with about 6 months left of my 12 years, that a hole rusted through and it failed inspection.

I just got my 08 inspected after it had been sprayed in the past and they approved a frame replacement. I am currently waiting on the frame to come in. My 12 years was up in April so if you're going to get it inspected you better do it soon!

I've been on a waiting list at the dealer since last November! Finally, it's happening.

I had my truck inspect 4 times before it was deemed necessary to replace the frame. Never coated though so I'm not sure what that changes if they have already applied a remedy. How many dealers are in your area? Maybe take it to a different one, you didn't buy the truck from if that's not too far out of your way. I have 5 different Toyota dealers within 45min of my house.

I have a 2014 Sport. From what I can tell frame looks fine (I sprayed it with rust proofer years ago). I recently got correspondence from Toyota that my frame protection is being extended 12 yrs, unlimited miles. Should I have my dealer inspect and spray if warranted? Or leave we’ll enough alone until it’s due for major service? I only have about 39k miles and live in one of the rust prone/salted road states. (It says to wait for a “limited service campaign” notification for limited vehicles to have CRC sprayed on the frame)

If the notice says wait, and all looks good, I’d wait.

You probably need to have it inspected and treated in order for the extension to apply (I think I saw that previously in another post...I could be wrong). I had mine done last week. It appears all they did was spray fluid in the frame itself and plugged factory holes.

Mine said to wait too but when I took my truck in for oil change, they went ahead and asked me to setup an appointment for inspection.

I just got the letter from Toyota a couple of days ago. I wonder if they even have regular cab frames available. I think it says I have 2 years to have it inspected and CRC treated and that is necessary if there is a future replacement needed.

Afaik its just like the earlier warranty extension offered to the 05-10 trucks. No need for inspection to redeem. If at any point within 12yrs from the recorded date of 1st use the frame meets the requirements set for replacement, it's replaced for free. No catches or action needed except have it inspected before the 12yr mark. Open to any owner regardless of original purchaser or 4th or 20th owner, the 12yr frame warranty extension applies to all. Only exception I'm aware of is vehicles with branded titles.

In the ‘11-‘17 WEP, they threw in a clause that if the frame wasn’t CRC sprayed within 2 years of the date of the WEP, you don’t qualify for a free frame. In 2+ years from now, there’s gonna be a lot of Taco buyers crying the blues because their Taco has rust holes and the previous owner didn’t get it sprayed.

They are still doing regular cabs here in Maine. If they're warranting for 12 years they would have to produce them until 2026. IIRC the last reg. cab 2014?

I didn’t ask about the crc. They told me they were going to do frame inspection while doing oil change. They asked me to schedule for crc after inspection.
