Ok... lets share out tailgater shaking tricks.

Years ago the MR2 I had needed a new hood from an accident. When I got it back from the shop the windshield fluid squirters didn't hit the windshield, went straight over. I quickly realized that was the best mod ever and left them like that the remaining 8 years I had that car. Tailgaters got the message when they realized a constant intentional stream was aimed at them! Soooooo much fun.

When I had my jeep Cherokee the rear wiper motor was broken but the squirter worked I use to get all my friends with it. I'd have them stand behind the jeep then hit the button. But it did work great for tail gaters also

Someone help me out please! What am I missing here? I bought some interior festoon type LEDs for my 1st gen's dome light. The ones from superbrightleds.com didn't work (could run a wire off battery and get it to light as a test, yes, functional bulb... but didn't work in the dome housing). Returned them and bought a different model from a different company... ditto. What gives for my dome light not taking LED?

    Morning PA folks ...

Having a manual trans, I like to downshift hard without using the brakes and watch them back off and stay back thinking I don't have brake lights...until I go to stop and the lights work. I have discovered the biggest offenders of tailgating are drivers of Audi's, BMW's, Cadilac's, Lincolns' Lexus's, and Rovers. They are also the laziest when it comes to using the turn signals...pay all that money for a car and the turn signals don't work through mental telepathy:rofl:

@PCTaco Thanks for passing this along. I thought of that but I'm going to powder coat the springs red before I mount them.

My daily commute has been 120 miles for the past year and a half. Hyundai/Kia drivers are the worst I've noticed.

@Redmann - Long time man, I hope things are going good. I'm not sure I've met @Arcticelf yet. Do you think he would be willing to help out? It would probably be in early January sometime. I hate to be a PITA :)

Thanks for your contributions to this thread!

    pics? :notsure::D

Any of my tricks usually piss them off and they end up getting closer continue to tailgate me.

I have rear facing LED lights. They don't like those, especially at night. When I turn my backup camera on, the reverse lights will also come on. They get freaked out by that. My high clearance bumper is mostly eye level to drivers in cars, they don't usually like seeing it hovering above their car's hood when I brake. The brake check only comes into play when they're a real big time asshole back there. Most times I'll just end up doing the speed limit and fully stopping at stop signs and not just the slow down, check, and roll thru. They especially hate it when I stop at the stop LINE at the stop sign, then have to inch forward to look for traffic and stop again. :hattip: good day folks. Hahah it always pleases me to see them freaking out behind me.

@Arcticelf I'm pretty sure I'm going with the JBAs since the price is right and they look like quality to me. I thought about getting them mounted by Headstrong but I want to powder coat the springs red to match the UCAs before mounting. Would you be willing to mount them (or show me how)? I'd gladly buy some beer or pay for your time. It would probably be sometime in early January.

Are you buying the correct style? There's a bunch of different kinds. I know, I know, how hard could it be to match it... but still, sometimes I make stupid errors like that too. I never tried LEDs in my dome light. Not even sure what kind of bulb it takes.

Also, are you sure your dome light socket is working properly? Did you ever have a bulb in there that works

    BMW for sure.

@Arcticelf can be a bit cantankerous, but mostly he's a good dude. :D

Yeah he'd definitely be willing to help out. Weekends. I'm sure he'll chime in.

So you're upset because a LEO caught you running a red light and you were fined?

One tailgater removal trick my wife thought up... come to an intersection and wait and wait till the right moment, which is right when you can either turn in front of another car who will be your new person behind you with just enough room to not let the jerkoff behind you turn... or just like it if crossing through an intersection you wait till you can go forward in a way where they'll be waiting for a line of cars at the intersection before being able to go straight also. Timing is everything! They hate it when you sit there not going, seeing you let perfectly good chances go by, only to turn when they can't. They know exactly what you're up to.

Oh, and like you say with the reverse lights... just this morning on the way to work I thought I should just rig up a switch to be able to turn on my reverse lights at will. I DID get those replaced nicely with some very very strong LEDs, happy with that purchase.

    sealight bulbs.jpg

Stock calls for a DE3175 "Festoon" style one, and yes my stock one does still work, the fixture works. These are the two bulb makes I tried that did NOT work:

    LUYED dome light.jpg

I'm stepping outside on break right now to try to put in yet a 3rd brand! We'll see.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Did you try turning the bulbs around? Sometimes polarity can be an issue. Also measure the voltage of the socket. If it isn't 12v or higher it may not be enough for the diode.

I’m upset because a LEO who had no authority to write tickets stopped me and then lied to another LEO that I’d almost caused an accident when I had.

I did not RUN a red light; I stopped at a red light, looked both ways, and treated it like a stop sign. I have Aspergers, a form of high-functioning autism, and we Aspies are known for splitting hairs when it comes to this sort of thing.

The cop who wrote the ticket but did not actually witness the violation then blatantly tried to intimidate me into “just paying the ticket” and not going to court because “he and deputy so-and-so
would be there” really pissed me off.

I have a friend who is a lawyer and I enacted my rights as a US citizen to take it to court, and I got it run.

I had a clean driving record at the time I was stopped (still do), and I had a job that was extremely dependent on me having a clean driving record, and getting points on my license could have cost me that job.

I support law enforcement, but those two particular LEOs (out of hundreds of thousands of cops in America who are genuinely good) were jerks to me, and I took it personally. I also did not want to get points on my license because it could have cost me my job.

Don’t you dare go telling me that I think I’m above the law because I don’t! I do not run red lights and that incident in January 2019 was a one-time slip up!

Fines I have no problem with; It’s the points on my license for a first offense that I have a problem with, and that’s why I fought it; Please read the above post.
