... Up before sunrise, I probably scurried around camp - literally jogging from spot to spot in order to try and capture the grandeur - for a good 90 minutes before finally deciding that there was really no way I was going to be able to be in all places at once, and I'd just have to find my way back in the future so I could spend a few more days here.

Read it all, and see the photos in Saline Warm Springs & Cerro Gordo: Once is Enough - In Search of Overlooks #4

Finally apart of this RTT family with my new purchase of a used Roam Vagabond V2!

Planning to give everything a good clean, including the mattress. Any advice?

Did you guys wet your tents before you used them for the first time? CVT recommends wetting them to where the entire tent fabric is damp then let it completely dry out before it's first use. Supposed to help the seams & seal any holes from stitching.

I have read where others have done that to. I never did on my CVT but it was a floor model and could have already had that done if it was on display outside. I have not done it with my Tepui Ruggedized and have used it in a downpour with no leaks.
    I would suggest it through.

I heard the same and ignored it. Chalked leaking up to my own fault the first time we got dumped on. The third time out it dumped again and leaked like hell so I replaced the tent.

Set it up at home and remove the mattress, soak the tent from the outside with no rainfly (rainfly is nylon and doesn't swell like cotton fiber), let it dry in the sun, then repeat. I did this with the second tent and there was no water ingress in a super heavy storm. The tent will be soaked and feel wet to the touch on the inside but there isn't going to be water pooling or dripping. Basically the same as any cotton canvas tent.

Without the ladder I'm guessing. CVT list the total package as 100 pounds. I'm still on the fence on if it's super lightweight material or chinese junk :rofl:it felt pretty solid for the 10 minutes I have been in it so far. I'm going to give it a break in after I get 4 more work days in then I'm off for 11 days :bananadance:

Recently got an ARB Simpson, making plans to use it after the holidays. What are some changes/modification you have done to your RTT to make it more comfortable or more to your needs? Power/lighting, type of bedding etc. Certainly a learning experience and I won't figure out my needs until I get out and use it but looking for thoughts and opinions.

I didn't do much to my RTT when I had it. I'd suggest start with a basic small latern you can hang from the top of the rtt inside for some lighting (i highly recommend https://hardkorrlighting.com/en-us/product/unilight-dual-color-battery-powered-led-lantern/ if you need to buy one) and start off with a whatever sleeping bag you have and some pillows (assuming you have the right sleeping bag for the weather). Use it a few times before you start to buy things specifically for it. See if the mattress is comfortable enough or if you need to add a topper to it.

I enjoyed the simplicity of my tent. A sleeping bag + pillow + extra down blanket + light inside was all I needed. One thing I did add was a cheap cargo net (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002C7DSIK/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and hung it on the underside of the tent to hold my shoes and stuff.

Yeah, like I said I won't really know until I get some nights in. Just curious as to what others have done. I actually got the 4 pack of those lights in Oct at an event, really like their products.
