Has anyone installed one of these smart rear view mirrors yet? These have a dash cam build in as well as a camera for the rear. The rear view camera acts as your back up camera and will also be used as a rear dash cam. I am thinking about installing one, but I wanted to see what people who have them think of the devices. I have a cap on my truck so the rear camera would be mounded on the inside of the glass until the inevitable dream of a new rear bumper with swinging tire mount.

Maybe post a link to the device you’re referring to.

So I was thinking about getting one of these (a different brand) but my only issue is I want to keep my factory OEM back camera intact with the new unit. Unfortunately I can't find anyone who has successfully accomplished that. The only reason I'm drawn this is because of the dash cam. Did you ever pull the trigger on this? Do you have a OEM back up camera?

I have not pulled the trigger yet. Life got in the way. Probably this summer I look into it again. Yes, I do have a stock back up camera, but on my 2011 the screen is something like 1.5 X 2 inch screen in my mirror. I wouldn't mind getting rid of the OEM camera. I would probably leave the actual camera in the tailgate handle and place the new reverse camera inside my glassed Lear cap

That would be an expensive gamble based on a good percentage of the dash cams are junk or break with in a year or so. Just read the negative reviews.
