I was on my way to work this morning, roads still had a bit of snow/slush from the previous night... I had my truck in 2wd, and was driving along a fairly well traveled area, so not much snow/slush. I went to pass a small car that had snow all over its windows, can only assume that's why they were going 30mph in a 55 zone.. I went to pass, and as I got into the oncoming lane to pass I gave some gas, and the truck outright hesitated, like it was trying to downshift to 2nd gear, and then decided it wanted 3rd gear instead, and killed the engines power... never had this issue before, the revs slowly increased, and it took off...... I did not see the TC light come on, but could consider this part of the issue if the truck sensed wheel slip and cut power, and engaged the ABS/ anti slip differential system..

You would have seen the lights flashing on the dash out of your periphery if those systems activated. My 2019 OR does the same thing in the slush.

mine is a 2016 TRD OR... and yeah, just odd, had not done this before.. didnt feel right.. and I didnt see any flashing lights on my dash, but I was a bit more focused on the oncoming lane, especially after the truck hesitated....

I read on here somewhere that it’s a design that Toyota supposedly did on these trucks....

Did you accidentally touch the brake as you were pushing the gas pedal as well? The truck will cut power if both pedals are pushed at speed.

This is the TC system my 2019 OR does the same thing in slush / snow. I have owned 4 Subaru’s and they do the exact same thing in slush / snow. Truck is doing exactly what it was designed to do. I was actually impressed with how it acted since the truck corrected itself quite quickly just like a Subaru does and Subaru has an excellent set up. Toyota probably just took it from Subaru since I believe they own a controlling share in Subaru.

I used to have this problem. So everytime I feel like I have to cut someone off. I would shift from D to S and be in gear 4. Then floor it and the truck would fly pass them like I'm a madman. But no delay in gas pedal.
