Just “Suit up and show up” as they say.
That sayings been done to death but it holds merit. Just keep showing up and doing what your told and progression is inevitable.

Second degree black belt Ben Rhodes came to train with us last night. His level of knowledge is unbelievable. Truly impressive!

Thanks Devil. That pic is a few years old now. That white bar on the black belt indicates that I don't know crap and I'm the white belt of the black belts :)

Yeah but if you are consistent you will progress faster. I can’t tell you how many guys I see train for a few months then disappear for a few months then come back etc. or they train 2-3 days a week for a couple weeks then hardly come at all for the next three weeks. It a a dedicated grind that will get you proficient, stick with it. There are different challenges each and every year, each and every belt but the first year is the hardest

This is the hard part, no excuses, just show up to class.

Then after a year grab the new guy on his second class and prove to yourself this shit actually works.

Exactly. New guys are always great when you are first starting to train. I remember the 6-12 month mark going with new guys and completely dominating them...that's when the light bulb goes off and you realize this shit works. It's all about time on the mat.
