Would probably be worth taking a multimeter to the wires to see if they are shorting to one another or to ground. Or just say shag it and replace the sensor on spec.

I just ordered new tires for the truck. Almost ditched it in my subdivision the other day. If they are good enough for Volvo's in Swedish winters they are good enough for me.
    https://www.gislaved-tyres.com/car/tyres/nordfrost-van

Also ordered most of the parts I need to get the truck back in decent working order. 312k wasn't kind to the motor and trans mounts. Or the suspension bushings.

I am more worried about the 15 hours of tech time it takes to get to the sensors! I will probably buy a wire harness and sensor to have them on hand before I start. I don't have the downtime to pull the truck off road for a day to disassemble and diagnose, and only then learn what I need to order in. So far it looks like I need all of these:

    17176-0P010 - Air Surge Gasket
    17177-AD010 - Intake Manifold Gasket
    17178-AD010 - Intake Manifold Gasket
16341-AD010 - Water out Gasket (two of these)
    96761-35031 - O-ring (two of these)
00272-SLLC2 - Super Long Life Coolant

just to get so I can reach this: 82219-0C010 - wire sensor

Credit to @08TacoTrD for the part numbers and list

Hit my 4WD switch today and all I got was blinken lightsn. Replace the actuator I don't hear moving or replace Tcase with FJ one?

I have found mine to be fussy at times. Wiggle the steering wheel a little at roughly straight, reverse a little then forward gently, switch back to 2wd and try again are all things that have worked. Do you have the 2lo mod?

I'm sure you've done all these, just thought I'd throw it out there anyway.

I don’t know what the issue would be with 2nd gens

I had a 1st gen that would do this all the time when I needed it most
what was recommended to me was the actuator something in them comes loose and normally just has to be re-Soldered

I was watching this the other day to

Check your wiring first - there was a bracket rusted out on mine that held the last connector before the front diff. Zip tied the connector to the frame and it hasn't blinked since.

Oh and electrical cleaner and di-electric grease helps too

Ya, I didn't get a chance to put the multimeter to it today, but that was the plan. First make sure I have no shorts and it is getting voltage. Other than that I am probably going to lock it into 4wd for the winter and deal with it properly in the spring.

If the actuator is seized, it is 100% more cost effective to swap in an FJ tcase.

Or, atleast that's what I keep telling myself (especially since its a direct bolt in for me).

Anyone with a RWD or Prerunner 2nd gen need a transmission mount. I fat fingered the wrong part from rock auto and isn't worth shipping back. $20.
