EDIT: I think I am wrong - I am 99% sure that the harness I am using is the one that came with the head unit. The keys and pinouts are critical to getting things plugged in correctly, and you will only use 4 of the 8 plugs that you unplugged from the back of the head unit, Power, Canbus, Speakers, and Radio Antenna.

The Joying-provided USB harness does not work.

DISREGARD the following, I was wrong. Sorry for any confusion.

Sadly, the wiring harness has changed with the 2020 models and this head unit (Joying JY-TO160N4GS) is NOT a plug and play installation in my 2020.

Mine's a basic touchscreen, not the upgraded or JBL model. The only parts of the Joying harness that plugged in were the antenna and speakers.

Just sent an email to Joying, we'll see if they have anything to offer us 2020 folks. Maybe a simple harness swap is all it will take.

I bet you could repin the cables with the help of one of the metra kits...
    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00029X1KA/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

This one plugs into the 2016-2019 radios, if you matched the pins from your stock harness, and put them into these plugs you could very well do it. Then you would be able to sell your 2020 headunit along with the plugs to someone else for huge money.

EDIT: if you live in MN I would do it for you just to be able to learn what the new trucks are using.

All of the other connectors are different as well. So you could get power and audio to work, but you wouldn’t get steering wheel controls, backup cam, gauge cluster screen, aux and USB, and any other features

Sorry - not in MN, I live south of Seattle. I knew I was being a pioneer, and I had a hunch it was going to go this way. I really, really want to avoid hacking into my wiring harness, and I really want true Android functionality.

Anyhow - Good news, and much, much faster than I expected. Merry Christmas to me. Joying is on it! They're making me a custom harness. I should have it in a couple weeks.
Minimal charge, basically to cover their shipping costs. I can't complain, they never said it would fit. To the best of my knowledge, there are NO options out there for a 2020 Tacoma at the moment, the Alpine Halo9 is not Plug N Play in the 2020s. Someone had to go first...

Hoping I can retain all the steering wheel controls and CanBus functionality too, the plugs in the pictures they just sent look correct, but I saw no backup camera and no CanBus box.

I’ve all but given up. I now have all speakers in but still have issues with dropping sound. After numerous emails to joying support and many videos sent to them I’ve got nothing to fix it.

Pretty sure I want to pick one up... just to reiderate after reading 20 pages.... only people with the JBL sound system are having problems with the sound cutting out for a couple seconds? Everyone else who have the touch screen w/ entune aren't having problems?
I just need the radio, mount kit for the side pieces, conversion piece for the gps cable and I'm good to go? I have a data card for my tablet so I plan to try that out and see if it works!

Correct - it's the JBL entune system that cuts out. The most I got out of mine without cutting out was 20 minutes.

    Non Jbl system

Installed and I am not getting the steering wheel controls working. There is an app on the stereo to program it and at the bottom it states something along the lines of press the program mode button on the steering wheel.

Is there is program mode button on the steering wheel?

Go into settings, car info, then select toyota, 2013, then pick the generic toyota model and it should work.

I figured it out. I had disconnected the canbus in and out by accident thinking they shouldnt be together prior to my install. All good now.

Got my new harness for the 2020, the new plugs look like they'll work. Hope I can get it installed soon.

    Edit

No joy. The plugs are still incorrect. I am sending Joying more information/better pictures.

    Edit 2

Better yet - the harness they sent doesn't even match the one they sent me a picture of. Awesome. It's fun going first...

    Edit 3

Got a harness that works. Thanks Joying!

    Edit 4
I am not the most organized guy in the world. After the 2nd fail, trying to install the head unit in the dark, I threw all the harnesses in a box and really didn't know which was which. I went back and looked at all my notes and pictures, and as near as I can tell, the harness that I am using is the original harness. You need to be really careful with the keying and plugs, two are the same shape but have very different pinouts. Power and Canbus are the same shape, be sure you know which is which. Speakers and antenna are obvious. The provided USB plug does not work in my 2020.

Decided to cave and order the swap for myself! Excited to have spotify and numerous other things easily accessible!
If anyone is looking to upgrade to a OEM one... I'll have mine from my 2016 Off Road premium w/ XM & Navigation for sale! Non JBL unit! Message me if interested!

I have a couple random questions for everyone that has installed the Joying unit!
Got mine installed yesterday, just curious though, did anyone get the oem antenna to work? Which connector is it? White or black connector?
Also, anyone get the oem mic to work? Forgot to plug the aftermarket one in but I can easily do that if needed!

I used the mic and gps that came with. I also did a firmware update after reaching out to Joying and they helped me set up the Canbus to my steering wheel.

I think there was an adapter that came with the stereo that attached to the fm antenna and i think it only fit in one plug only

I have some sort of mic working without using the one they send that plugs in because I was able to talk on the phone through it. Not sure if it's the little one on the front of the radio or the oem one but my wife said it sounds no different.
Everything else seems to work great... only gripe so far is I don't think I can change the Celsius to Fahrenheit. Am I missing it?
