I have a Bernese Mountain Dog puppy about 4 months old and about 50 pounds. He's teething like a bandit. I went to one of those big pet stores looking for teething toys that are intended to be frozen. This elderly woman who worked there walked over and asked if she could help. I explained what I was looking for. She said the best teething toy she ever used was one of those rope toys soaked in water and then put in the freezer. Last night I soaked and froze Bottles rope toys, and this morning they are a big hit. I've also made ice cubes out of very diluted beef bullion, and he likes those, but they are gone in a jiffy. Any other creative ideas for teething toys?

Kong. They dont last forever. But for big strong dogs. They'll hold up for a while. Put some peanut butter in the middle and hell be on it for at least 2 hours

I had a neighbor who would freeze water and chicken stock with their dog toys inside, like a frozen ice cake

For this and the one above: He has Kong toys, and is capable of destroying them over a fair period of time. I agree they are good teethers. I was looking for something frozen as my understanding is that eases any pain. I also have a largish section of cow leg bone which I smear the inside of both ends with peanut butter, which he really likes. I don't have a recent pic of him on this computer, but here he is when maybe 9 weeks old.Bottles.jpg

The stronger kongs? The blue puppy ones are weak and the red ones are ok but not durable enough for my pups. I have the black rubber onesand they have held up well for my pups. Frozen kongs and nylabones when they were teething worked well for me.

Yeah, the stronger kongs. He has a large black one left over from previous dogs, which was pristine when he got it and is chewed up pretty good on both ends. Once the holiday stuff settles down, I'll post a picture of it and a current picture of Bottles.

Here's Bottles in his play pen, which he will shortly be able to knock over. Two shots of his black kong, each end. Sorry the one is a bit out of focus.IMG_0337.jpg
