So after being a religious fluid film user since I bought my 2015 Im getting the urge to lightly pressure wash my frame with hot water from the house. Thinking about running a hose from the boiler to a regular light duty pressure washer. I would like to get of all the road grime and of course reapply. Will the hot water screw up the seals in the pressure washer?

It would depend on just what model you have Any Warning Do not exceed ?? degree water .

Since your talking water in the area of 200 Degrees not super heated steam

Not really sure hot water will give you that much more cleaning .

I've heard hot water will ruin your pressure washer.

If you're talking tap water "hot water" then you should be fine. I can't see water that is limited so it doesn't scald your skin ruining some rubber seals.

That said, I can't see hot tap water doing that much more than the pressure already does. Might help keep the FF runny enough so it rinses out easier, though...

The damage is probably done if anything hotter than 145 degree was used. My company sells industrial pressure washers and our regular duty models aren't recommended to be run with anything over 145 degrees otherwise the seals will deteriorate and ruin the unit. Our hot water systems run in the ballpark of 190 to 200 degrees I believe..

Just curious do your pressure washers have any labels stating not to exceed the 145 degrees ??

Not sure if this helps the OP, but most of my local coin-op car washes have hot water in the do-it-yourself bays. I don't use it on the body for reasons of thermal shock and stressing the paint, but I will spray off the frame, wheel wells and wheels/tires with it. Not sure what the actual temperature of the water is, but it's enough to create some steam inside the wash bay.

I don't believe so, its only in the manual. I dont think most tap water systems will go beyond 145 without some kind of system in place to do so(boiler heating element?)

Let's see some frame pics!! My local parts store has fluid film in paint cans for 20 bux! Then they are being discontinued. Wondering if it helps

There probably discontinue them because they want to stock the new wool wax which is suppose to be thicker than FF. If it was 20 bux for a gal that’s a steal, I think I paid around $45. Rattle cans you can get for 10 bux.

Thanks. I'll keep my eyes open for that stuff. But for 20 bux a gallon I might be Filimg for a while lol.
