Happy New Year's NorCal! Long time lurker and decided to come out of the mud.

Here is my first taco that recently got totaled, 2018 white TRD OR DCSB.

Looking back I regret not taking more pictures :(

First tacoma kept my lady and I safe from the rear end accident (you should see the smashed in civic) and of course we had to get another one.

This time my lady had her say on our second one and decided on this 2020 Cement TRD OR DCLB.

Now we gotta start all over with the mods for our 2nd taco.

Looking to be more active and hopefully meet up with you guys in the future!

Welcome. I can't believe that was a total loss. Did you keep the wheels?

I tried my best, insurance appraiser said I needed my original wheels that came with the OR. Sold them a long time ago and I was trying to see if anyone was trying to sell a set. I had no luck at the time.

Wow I'm seeing pretty much the same damage to mine from my inexperienced eyes, glad you're okay though!

I was hoping my frame would be replaced, but the guy stopped counting after he reached about 24k costs in repairs.

How much would it cost to buy it back?

Couldn't they part it out and make a profit? It was worth more than $30k right? Did a group of bums use it for a soup kitchen?

Might have come down to labor costs. Hard to say. GEICO contracted rate is $75/hr. Total was just over $21K. They would have totaled it around $24K (80% of estimated value).

I didn't get the chance to explore that option.

I had a number in mind to be happy about taking a totaled check and it was met plus more. Yeah it was worth more than $30k, even with the 50k miles I've racked on the truck in less than 2 years time of ownership.

    1. Wow, glad to hear you're okay and that is a great payout for 50k (Even though it sucks to lose the truck)

    2. Did you get a chance to salvage the sliders or anything else from the truck?

Glad you are okay and congrats on the second Taco. More cushion for the pushing is always a good thing. Commute twice a week 99-205-5-238-880, seen some smashed up rides.

I didn't get to salvage it but they gave me a fair amount for it because I had receipts for all of my aftermarket mods.

    Thanks man!

Yeah the risks on those highways are no joke, need to be paying attention at all times.

Saw plenty of potential accidents from our day trip to South Lake Tahoe today. East Bay man lol.

Luckily I usually only have to choose between 101 or 280 for commutes, I avoid 101 like the plague and take 280 every time if I can.
