Well TW members, I know that 99.99% of you don't know me from Adams house cat, but I feel I know quite a few of you from the posts that I read, and many of you I'd really enjoy meeting face to face. So here's my Request for all of you. I'm having my 4th spinal fusion surgery on January 30th 2020, and I have to be honest, I'm really not looking forward to it, but my current situation dictates, that I have to try something. For any of you living with Chronic pain, and other health issues that keep you from living life to the fullest, I feel your pain. So for those of you, that wouldn't mind, please add me to your prayer list, that this time, with a better surgeon, and God's grace, I'll finally get some relief. If you've ever clicked on my avatar, you'll see that I'm fused from T8 all the way down to S1. I'm having what they call a hardware failure, and a fusion failure, where the previous operations didn't work out as planned. Their going to redo the fusion between L5-S1, replacing the screws with longer ones, that will anchor my lower spine to my hip bones. All of my Truck Projects are on hold until further notice, except the basic maintenance items, which I'll have to pay someone to do if the need arises. Moderators, if this is a "Taboo" subject matter here on TW, please feel free to delete this post. I'm looking forward to reading everyones, adventures and pics, while I'm recovering to keep me entertained, and as they used to say in the 70's, keep on truckin.

    I can't imagine the pain you're in.
I have a vascular variant of a genetic condition called Elhers Danlos Syndrome. It's a connective tissue disorder, so I have lots of joint issues, for example, a permanently dislocated collarbone, I dislocate hips a lot, I have a sensitive heart; I can't drink a cup of coffee without having a medical emergency. Just a bunch of general BS. At 19 I had a surgery that left me with a condition called gastroparesis, so I've lost a ton of weight, which is even harder on my heart, and am facing a feeding tube. On January 30th it will have been 2 years since I had the surgery.
Growing up with a disabled vet, my father told me I had no idea what pain was and was shrugged off a lot.
I started to think maybe I was just a weenie about pain, but I'm starting to find out that might not be the case; for instance, I just found out that at some point I broke my sternum, and I've always had problems with chest pains but never thought much of it. None of my doctors understand how I could've not known or been in horrendous pain when it happened.
Anyways, I have another extremely debilitating condition that I've been living with my whole life, and had no idea that what I was dealing with was uncommon or as alarming as it is. My vascular doctor thought I had DVT, I had my follow up appointment 2 days ago and found out it was something totally different, and was told I needed surgery, and just scheduled it today for the 20th. The pain in my legs was originating all the way from my pelvis, rather than being a blood clot or varicose veins, etc, which is pretty rare. I'll be awake for my heart's sake and at a medical facility since I'm high risk, but it's supposed to be a straight forward thing luckily. I'm excited, but a little nervous about being awake for it. I constantly feel like I'm going to vomit, so I don't know how I'm going to do.

I guess what I'm saying is hang in there, being unhealthy sucks a whole load of ass. Especially when you aren't healthy enough to address chronic pain, you just have to focus on staying alive.

My mother has the same genetic condition I do, and she has the lower portion of her back fused. Luckily for her, it's holding well. I hope the same will happen for you.

    Wishing you the best!

My brother just went through surgery and had titanium plates and 28 screws put in his neck. Has another surgery scheduled to do more work from the front when he heals up enough. If that doesn’t work out he’ll be looking at some kind of fusion.

Understand but can’t imagine the pain your dealing with. Hoping your surgery goes well and you get your life back!

Prayers are with you OP and to all how have and are going through it. I feel all of your pain. I had taken a bad fall off a ladder 10 years ago. Blow out my ankel and shoulder. Had 2 surgerys on my shoulder and 5 surgerys on my ankel over that 10 year Spain. Last one having to fuese my ankel. I thank God that I am still Abel to do things and get around. Thoughts and prayers are with you!

On the Coleman board, its customary to light a lantern on the day any member is having surgery. I'll have one of mine fired up on the 20th and 30th and will keep both of you in my thoughts and prayers. .
