I like the Ruger GP100 series. They're solid and durable, with a great aftermarket. Almost like the Tacoma of handguns!

Just picked up my first new Smith with the damn hole yesterday.

    It's a 2 3/4" model 69 44 mag.

Not into the black side plate screws, and thumb piece "cylinder release."

Already polished the mat stainless off it, and will get a new stainless cylinder release, screw for it and a set of stainless screws for the side plate Thursday.

    May post pictures then.

Got the stainless replacement stuff yesterday for my S&W 69.

Mail lady also dropped off a set of Ahrends grips I had made for my 686-1 in tung oil finished Goncalo Alves. Kim makes a killer set of grips, turn around was about 5 weeks, but Christmas and New Years was in there.

yes, I have prettier & much more expensive revolvers but this one has been my wilderness carry for going on 20 years. I've fired more rounds thru it than all the others combined

    I have a 2.5" and 4" 686-1. I'll never part with either of them.

Yes they do. It's a shame Kim had to close shop.

    http://ahrendsgripsusa.com/

I bought a set of their retro grips for my 686. Closest thing I could find to the factory round butt K frame target grips.

    Is that a 460 or a 500?

I don't currently have any revolvers, but I'm getting close to changing that and leaning toward a hand-cannon even though I've got no particular need for something like that (other than 2 boxes of 45 Colt that I accidentally bought and can't legally get rid of thanks to my state's half-wit Governor). I've got my eye on the 5" 460V but don't' know of anywhere that I could rent one to try it out (biggest rental six-shooters at my regular range are 357mag) and I'm not even sure how often I'd really get to put high-power ammo through it since their baffles might only be able to take the 45 LC. Getting this one would probably be the official move for me from just home defense and having options when I go make holes in paper to starting toward claiming to be a "collector".

Kind of curious about what to expect as far as muzzle flash out of the brake and how much recoil to expect when I do get to put the big rounds through it.
