Those rings mainly keep my water tanks from falling over or sliding around when I go camping.
Good to know about the Gorilla locks. I'm sure if someone wants to get around them they will. I'm sure it'll slow them down some though.

The bolt is tapered but also has a stop flange that bottoms out against the nut flange so over tightening will not over compress the spring. It will just strip your nut threads.
This guarantees consistent repeatable compression of the spring.
The donut flange with a constant spring compression allows the exhaust system to flex while still maintaining seal.
When the frame flexes and twists and the exhaust heats and expands or cools and contracts the joint allows movement to relieve stress in the system.
The joint also allows some misalignment meaning that even if it's not perfectly aligned it can still be bolted together.
Vise grips holding the 2 flanges together makes assembly much easier as you don't have the spring compression to fight to get the bolts started.
Since the bolt is tapered it's challenging to determining if you are cross threading or just fighting the resistance of the springs.
I recommend buying new bolts if yours are corroded.

Dobinson’s coils and shocks. SOS sliders, ditch light brackets, and front skid. Rigid ditch lights. BFG KO(dos) More minor stuff.
Just put it all around on my sons T4R. Even with the higher front lift it still rides way better than the OME setup.

I have front setup on my Taco with 2.5”. Ride is fantastic.

Both of us feel it’s a bit floaty at first but I got used to it. Haven’t really been off road with it so no opinions there yet.

That makes a lot more sense than the spring being there for backfires on a computer controlled engine.

The "tapered" bolt is weird AF and you're correct it's easy to crossthread because that happened to one of the bolts/nuts on my wife's car. I had to grind down the old nut and weld a new one on the back side of the flange which wasn't fun at all.

On a more positive note I was able to figure out where her car's exhaust leak was located fairly easily. Lol

Looks good. But since Pyrite Mica is one of the best colors imo Id have left them.

It seems most are partial to matching body parts. I have black on black but with the unpainted fenders and bumper which I don’t like. Different strokes though. It looks like you did a good job laying the paint down.

Maybe just try the lower middle part of the bumper or grill surround black like the fender flares to tie it together. The painted bumper is way cool.

Started working on the new grille. Self etching primer, sandstorm bed coat on the letters, black bed coat on the surround, haven't decided what I want to do the louvers and honeycomb in yet.

I messed up and purchased long bed flares. I didn't want to deal with returning it so I made them fit. I actually drilled some holes in the quarter panel to run bolts and squeezed the flare into place. I painted all of the silver hardware black. It's held up for the past year or so without issue.
