If your truck is a 6-lug, then yes they should work. If you are talking about the green Tacoma in the photo, then yes, they will definitely work!

You'll have to get appropriately-sized tires, but I see people put T4R wheels on Tacos (and Taco wheels on T4Rs) all the time!

If you only plan on using stock sized 265-70-16 or 265-65-17 tires, its fine. But I hated the way it brought the tires in so much, so it wasnt for me. And I think wheel spacers are sketchy, but thats an argument for another day.

Can some one explain why backspacing would be a problem. Backspacing kinda confuses me. Im planning on lifting it and putting 285/75/16 in the next year.

You're really going to have to post the exact wheel your asking about. All different generations and sub models have different specs. There has to be about 10 different 4 runner wheels.

To far in aka positive +bs and a 285 or wider will most likely be to close or rub on upper control arm.
To far out negative -bs makes the tire tend to rub the fenders. And ads additional stress to all moving parts via leverage.

This is a very good laypersons explanation. If you want a deeper understanding and geometry at play, check out the above link.

2001 4 Runner wheels 265/75/R16. No problem, but they are not A/T tires (Michelin street tread). You might get a rub if you have any type of tires with aggressive tread that sticks out off the sidewall.

OP if you're asking about a wheel that looks exactly like yours but is 16 instead of 15"?
The 16s are actually what should have came stock on your truck. 15s came on 89-94 pickups.
Anywho the 16s stick in 4mm more. And should clear just fine w a 265.
But if he is your buddy just bolt one on the front, spin it and check clearance.

See the link I posted above.

If the wheels you want are off a 3rd gen 4Runner (1996-2002) they will have the same backspacing as what you have now. If they are the ones that look like your current wheels, they will work fine.

No, 1995.5 to 2000 Tacoma's did come with 15 inch wheels. 16 inch wheels started in 2001 with the TRD Off Road package. But, you could get these wheels as an option without the TRD Off Road package. OP's truck is a 1997 Tacoma LX which came with 15 inch wheels and 31X10.5R15 tires. Here is a link to the 15 inch Tacoma wheels OP may have:

    https://www.autorimshop.com/toyota-...MIw9zv68D_5gIVycDACh3iEQA5EAQYASABEgIzjPD_BwE

1995.5 to 2004 4X4 and Pre-Runner 6-lug Tacomas came with the following tire sizes: 225/75/15, 265/75/15, 31X10.5R15, 265/70/16. Again, 16's came out starting with the 2001 TRD Package, but you could get these as an option without the TRD Package starting in 2002.

15s came on my 2000. I think the 16s came on 4runners. Possibly could have been an upgrade at the dealer for the 16s
