    Working on it ...
I have been thinking about this and thought it might be a interesting thread for any of us who have had multi Tacoma‘s or Toyota trucks and how we may have evolved to our current third GEN Tacos.
So I will start with my journey which began with a 1988 SR5 (177k mikes - still ran great but the bed look like Swiss cheese), then on to a 2000 (102k miles ran and looked great until it got T-boned), then my 2002 (213k miles on it but Frame was rotting and had some head gasket issue), then on to my current 2019.
All four of my trucks where my daily drivers And used like trucks. Each one has its moments and believe it or not sentimental values. All of them 4 x 4 manual transmission except for the last one is 4 x 4 automatic. The last 2, TRDs.
    Here are some pictures:

Never had a Tacoma before but I did have an 83 SR5 Longbed Pickup for about 13 years.

My first Toyota truck was a brand new 77, plain Jane 2 wheel drive, second was the 84 in the pic and the third is the 17 in the picture.

And some of us are a little slow to evolve. I'm still in the market for a 2020. (my dealer hasn't got the right truck yet) In the mean time, that 1985 4wd is my daily driver that I bought in 1986. I bought it from a bank as a repo for $5100. I got my money's worth for sure.

I’ve owned and abused a 94 4x4 extended cab and a 2010 crew off road short bed taco. Just bought a new one the other day with a long bed and my first ever auto transmission.

They’re the right size, are pretty bullet proof and designed from the ground up to be capable backcountry vehicles. Almost bought a full size this time but am really glad I didn’t.

My first Toyota as 1980 4Runner. I'll have to look through old photo albums to see if I can find a picture. It had M/T and sat on the lot for months. It had a CD player - CDs were just catching on - and I didn't want to pay the $500 for it. Walked away from the deal several times until the dealer got tired of it sitting on his lot and gave me the $500 off.

I bought this 2004 Extracab TRD OR/SR5 7.5 years ago. I am the 3rd owner - it had 27k miles on it when I bought it and will sell it on Friday with just under 42k. I've used it for light hauling here on our property and as a chase vehicle when we crew for a local hot air balloon company. It's been a great little truck with very little maintenance needed. Still has it's original brakes - fronts at 10/10 and rears at 5/10. The one thing that I didn't think about when I bought it was the lack of rear seats - as our grandkids have grown they quickly outgrew the jump seats. I'll be moving to a 2020 AG TRD Pro as soon as it gets built/delivered - got a VIN today with an estimated 1/22 build date.

I don’t think I have photos but 1981, 1989 v6 lb, 280000 miles then yard service, load it up with firewood, back up to porch, cheated with a 2002 Tundra, Tacoma took me back in 2018, now a 2019

I've had five, only have pics of the last two, only one has had a short bed. I bought the 86 brand new and have always had a Toyota truck in the driveway in almost 35 years. The cabs grew as my family grew.

    86 4X2 single cab
    91 4X4 single cab V6
    99 4X4 single cab AT

Had a 95 and 2005. Both of them used when I got them.

The '19 is my first new one.

I had a 1988 I did a 3/4 ton axle swap and a V8 engine in, and a 1992 before buying the 2003 I have now. I'll buy a 3rd gen in about 20 years when they can be had for <$10K, I'm cheap, lol.

Am I the only one with the pet peeve of referring to the 95 and older trucks as a Tacoma? MY OCD demands the title of this thread be corrected since the OP included a non Tacoma in his post.

I'm thinking that those that refer to a pre 95 as a Tacoma are probably the same people that call wheels, rims and called Samurais and Amigos, Jeeps.
