Looks good. I’m looking forward to getting my crossbrace/framebracing finished up soon as well. I’ve already got my exhaust tailpipe on a vband clamp for the fun wheeling. I can pop it off so I don’t pinch it in the rocks and pop it back on so I don’t gas myself out if I leave the truck running while I’m taking a nap or something in the camper. I guess I’ll post some pics when it’s all wrapped up.

All finished. What a pain in the ass. Never want to do that again.

On a positive note, the backend is very stable now and no more shimmy. Thanks @JLee !

Thought I would leave my impressions about the modification after getting a chance to use it. My truck is setup with OME 888 and bilstein 5100s up front with JBA control arms, in the back I have HD Dakars now cut to fit the BAMF shackle, and the RCD bilstein 5100s. The truck bed carries a hi lift, shovels, 300ish piece mechanics tool set, recovery boards, a KBVooDoo mid rack and an RTT on a daily basis. It gets loaded up for trips. I use my truck off-road and enjoy its capabilities. I did the mod because my stock shackle hangers looked bent, the Dakars where digging into my stock shackles, and the Dakars where so noisy! Install went amazing with the help of a good and talented friend. So ride impressions. On the road my Dakars do not make as much noise anymore. In my opinion they now make acceptable noise for a leaf spring. I believe this is due to the fact my shackle hangers where bent and where making things squeak horribly. THAT ALONE MADE THE MOD WORTH IT TO ME. One down side I experienced is at around 40mph I feel the smaller bumps in the road more. Not horrible but its there. Probably means that the BAMF shackle hangers are stiff and the factory hangers flex way more then I thought. Other then that my road driving experience hasnt changed much. Out on the trail I was very happy with the solid feel that I had while I drove around on rough and challenging terrain while loaded down. Usually my Dakar leaf packs get very noisy out on rough terrain. Not this time! Overall I am a satisfied customer. I torqued all the hardware down and rechecked it a few times and had ZERO ISSUES in MOAB while driving some of the fun trails in the Sand flats area. I know another member here stated he had an issue with a bolt and a competitor jumped on that like a wildfire in New Mexico. After install check and recheck all the hardware. I would set blame on the customer for that one and not BAMF. BTW customer serviec is top notch with BAMF. I emailed a simple and stupid question and got a timely nice response. Would I do the modification again...Yes.

Wheeled Moab for over a week. Landed on the hangers a couple of times. One hell of a product. Glad I did this mod.

Are you getting much strength with the cross bar bent or is it more to leave room for an air tank or something else?

DOM roll bar tubing. It will not bend, I tucked it up so a big rock can't get jammed up between the bar and the rear axle. Probably will never happen, I just wanted it this way.

Just finished the install and it wasn't fun. I gave myself 2 days in case anything went wrong. I ground down the rivet heads and prayed the hanger off. I used a ball joint press on the lower ones which was awesome and pretty quick. The top ones were a little more difficult to get with the ball joint press and with only one set of hands it didn't go so well. I drilled all the way through what was left of the rivets up to 1/4 inch then used a punch and pounder the rest of it out which saved me some time. Once that was done the rest was a piece of cake but those rivets are no joke and an extra set of hands would have been very helpful. The first pic is my badge of honor and the second is the finished product. Now to test them and I'm sure they will be way better than stock. Oh and I did trim my Dakars I took the disc and used that as a template because I wanted to keep them then just trimmed the width of it so we will see if that is enough. 20200203_125723.jpg 20200203_125826.jpg

I recommend cutting the old hangers off just below the frame before attacking the rivets. Getting the hanger our of the way helps.

Nice, might want to make sure you get a cross brace up in there. A good solid slide hit from the side could bend the frame. Frames on these trucks are pretty weak. Glad you got this knocked out.
