    Look at Elka.
All of their shocks are aluminum bodied.
I recently bought a set through the Head Strong group buy. I have to say I'm really impressed with their quality and ride characteristics.

    Cheers

Appreciate the comparisons. I don't have much to compare to other than before my 887s I had my 5100s at 1.85 on stock coils and that was harsh on the highway and the reason why I bought the 887 coils and removed the preload.

Nice, I will have to do some research as they are new to me. Thanks!

Ride will be slightly more stiff bc of the lca angle, but still super forgiving. Fox valving is secret for a reason. I jump my truck and no issues with the coils. You'd have to do something REALLY foolish to break 620lb coil. They get smoother once they're broken in like any spring. Maybe they might fail if something nicks the powder coat and they rust, but unlikely. Lastly, the springs are not progressive so they'll function the same at 2" or 3" of lift (even with turning the driver's side up... Don't mess with spacers bc it will put slightly uneven pressure on the bump stops, no big deal unless you wheel it hard... But if you're putting them in a compressor anyway, why not do it right?).

It's just the suspension angle that makes them feel more stiff. Buy them man, you will never go back from FOX. Coat your CV boots with Ballistol or something to "rehydrate" the rubber and it'll help keep them from cracking/tearing after the install and increased angle.

Hey OP! Ive been reading through this thread and I plan on installing my 2.0 front c/o and 2.0 RR rears this coming weekend. I was curious if you had insight on longevity and how they are holding up since you installed them...what, 3 years ago? I do moderate off-roading and am looking forward to getting them on.

I actually have the ones off Mullys truck that are 7 or so years old with almost 50k miles on them. They still ride pretty good, a little harsh up front but I have a feeling that's due to not having a metal bumper like he had (front is set a 3 inches). I have a bumper on order so going to see how that changes the ride up.

Dude, these things are legit. I literally try to to jump speed bumps on purpose. Fox told me they're def good for 60k, but off the record... They'll go 100 if you don't abuse them like I do.

Follow my instructions and turn them the number of turns I should have and you'll love driving your rig more and more every time you drive it (Look at the first few pages). And def go with the wheeler's AAL progressive, the rear is so cushy now. Wife has the recall leaves on hers and even with the super bumps it's harsh compared to mine.

    Good info in here, thanks.
I’m ready for new suspension with 100k on the current 5100s/Eibach and Dakar’s.
Debating 2.0 on the rear, and between 2.0 and 2.5 up front. The aluminum body is a good argument for us in the salt belt.

Interested in the 2.0 front and rear set. Headstrong says they come set at 1in out of the box. I have a 19 DCLB OR. I'm thinking 1in is perfect to get me level? I dont wanna touch the rear, just want to level the front.

2.0's in salt and slow wheeling with intermittent fast speeds requiring a lot of travel. Running roads at speed consistently=2.5's. Strength is almost the same, just obviously 2.5's have a touch more fluid. Argument again: aluminum dissipates heat faster and doesn't corrode. Go with the 2.0's bruh. And unless you tow a fair amount, just do the 2.0 rears w/o the resi's. I love mine with the CD adjusters, but only worth it if you abuse your rig like me and tow heavy trailers every once in a while.

Snag them, valving is unbeatable if you really wheel your rig. Pretty sure it's still 2" lift, but that will put you dead level. It'll look high in front when the rear suspension is flexed. Wife's silver '08 in this thread is about where you should be sitting with the 2.0's as rake. You may end up <.5" high in front, but likely level.

And honesty, if I were you just throw 1.6" lift eibach coils on 5100's from Wheeler's Off Road. Takes 5k miles to break in, but ride is solid... Wife's has broken in and pretty sweet up front. Rear still harsh with those factory recall leaves.

Has anyone ever seen the 2.0 Coilover blow the cap out of the top of the shock (not sure of the exact name of the part)? I was driving around town and was experiencing a rather loud clunking noise and got out to find that the shock had opened up and all the oil had come out.

Still waiting for fox to respond to my email regarding warranty as I just bought these in September, I searched around and didn't find anyone with a similar issue.

Re-read the first few pages of the thread. Would you say 3 turns up on passenger and 6 turns on driver would be a good setup? Looking for a 2” lift total from the stock 3rd gen OR setup.

I’ve already added 265/75/16 Wildpeaks on some Ray10s and the driver side definitely rubs still even after removing the mud flaps. With this happening my planned summer lifting job just took an timing advance to March / April when I get back from this work trip.

Figured I’d give you guys a quick update on my Fox setup. Approx 500 miles after install I went to retorque all the hardware and was a bit surprised with what I found on the driver side rear...

Yeah really not to happy. Hopefully the warranty process through Fox won’t be to much of a hassle.
