I've had this truck for about 10 years now. Off road only. Was rolled hard on-road before I bought it and turned it into a trail truck. Now I just sat it on it's side for my first time. The truck shut itself off before I could even grab the key. It sat overnight until I got a tractor to come pull it back onto it's wheels. No significant fluid loss. Now it will crank but not start.
I removed the circuit opening relay and banged it around - hoping maybe it had some sort of floating ball that would need reset. That didn't work. So I bypassed it by connecting the ignition power directly to the fuel pump. Now I can clearly hear the pump run, but still no start. I checked the wiring diagrams and I don't see anything else that would prevent it from starting.
Fuel gauge reads 1/2 tank and has always worked. I also tried spraying brake cleaner in while cranking but still didn't start. Have not checked for spark yet, but I gotta assume it's not sparking. Honestly, haven't tried much cause I'm frustrated and it's cold out here in PA right now! Maybe TacomaWorld can help?
Here is a video of the aftermath. https://youtu.be/ge_LmHbKpyE
Oh and also on my YouTube channel, building a 2nd gen with a 5.7L Tundra V8 engine. There's a thread for that on here too.

I've got pictures of this truck from the Truck Nationals last year! I thought it was a 1998...?

LOL... Let me clarify... The truck is BEAT. But this particular roll was basically sitting still. I was backing up and the left front tire dropped in a hole just as the right front tire was peaking on a steep incline. So it just teetered onto it's side as nicely as you could imagine. Not a violent crash or anything.

That custom short bed is killer. I'd take this over a new jeep anyday. Nice truck.

I’m assuming you pulled and cleaned the plugs and cranked it without the plugs in, right?

My gal insists that I’m an ass, so I’m not sure what harm assuming might do.

If you didn’t pull the plugs before you cranked it, you might want to do it and check compressions to make sure you didn’t bend something.

A compression test might be going too far in this case. I’m going with:

    Remove plugs.
Spray plugs with brake clean to get the oil off.
Crank the engine with no plugs ‘till oil stops misting out.
Squirt some brake clean into the cylinders, and give it another crank.
Install the plugs, start it up.
Ignore any knocking, smoking, or funny noises. It’s normal according to Toyota.

    Hello Mike,

You truly have an amazing Tacoma. I am sorry I don't have input as far as helping you get it started other than what has already been suggested.

I am just curious. How many miles are on it?

You have a question about what model year it is. Just check the production tag in the driver's door.

    Take care,
    Paul

if you left it sit overnight chances are it's oil soaked everywhere and the plugs are coated. like others have said, pull plugs, and you may even want to let it sit another day before trying to crank it just so everything has a chance to drain back to the pan.

Thanks for all the replies and the compliments on the truck. :)
It's been upright for about 2 weeks now. I never pulled the plugs to clear out oil in the cylinders, but that would be easy enough to do. I'll check for spark too. Then I'll check back in.

So honestly, I figured out what was wrong late this afternoon. However, I was in the middle of editing this video at the time. LOL So this video gets posted first... Still curious if anyone can figure out the problem though. TBH, my own mind was kinda blown. https://youtu.be/hJ1mEw7fM0o
