I have a similar Ryobi power washer. It's a damned blessing. I power wash all the things now.

Yeah man it’s great. Playing around with soap to water ratios is the hardest part, but I usually use around 4-6oz

There are marking on the foam cannon bottle. I usually fill it about an inch or two from the bottom. You can use any kind of soap really. The best “cheap” soap you can get almost anywhere I’ve used is the meguiars gold class. Once done with the foam cannon, be sure to wash out all the soap and fill it with just water and run the water through the foam cannon to clean it out so soap build up doesn’t ruin the foam cannon.

Any of y’all ever sued a mechanic?

The guy that botched the timing belt job on my truck ended up damaging a camshaft and it’s already ripped a cam seal I just replaced and I’m leaking oil again. :frusty::censored:

photo I took when I was replacing them.

Trying to decide if I should just bite the bullet and fix it myself or If I should try and go at him.

Unless you just know he's going to be an ass about it, id approach him first and see if he wants to concede to any kind of compensation. A lawsuit off the bat is just going to piss him off and if he's an independent shop you probably arent going to get much if anything. Probably a wash after legal fees, time expense, days off work, etc....

The damage doesnt look real deep from that picture, id be tempted to run some emory cloth over it and see if it smooths it out enough to make the seal live.

Anyone local have a Brute Force Fab rear bumper? I did my taxes already and think I found what to do with part of the return. Gotta fix the Supra first, but hope to have enough left over for a bumper.

It seems like Brute Force has a very competitive price ($805+shipping) versus others out there and I like that those side bars are no extra charge. I also like the look of the AtTheHelm one, but it's a couple hundred more and doesn't provide as much side protection. Hopefully there are some Tax Time sales coming up!

I’ve reached out to him and explained the situation, he has hasn’t made any effort at all to do anything.

The reason this all started is because I started leaking oil really bad a week after he did timing belt job, I took it to him and it sat at his shop two weeks and he finally diagnosed it leaking because supposedly the oil filter was loose.

That obviously wasn’t the issue because I continued to leak oil, after 6 months I decided to try and find where it was coming from myself so I cleaned everything really well and found it leaking from behind the timing covers, when I pulled the cover back I noticed a large laceration on the timing belt itself.

I wasn’t about to let him work on it again and diagnose it something other than what I expected it to.

So I ordered everything I needed and did the job myself. Then sent him photos of the belt and torn cam seal still on the truck after I finished the job and was like I’m not asking for a full refund but I’d like to be compensated for my time.

I noticed when I pulled the cam seal that the person that pulled it before I did had used a flathead screw driver or something on it a damaged it trying to pull the seal. So I sanded lightly with some fine grit to and hit and any sharp edges but some of the damage is pretty far in there and will be hard to reach unless I pull the valve covers.

I’m thinking it will be a huge PIA to take him to court or anything over it. I’d spend more time with that than actually fixing it.

I may mail him a well written letter and see if that gets me anywhere with getting some type of compensation.

I havnt went guns blazing at him but I have stated the facts of the situation.

Yes, I painted the caps and had some TRD vinyl made for the red portion.

I'd include in that letter that you're not afraid to use every review resource at your disposal to make sure people hear about the shotty work. (BBB, Google reviews, even file a complaint with the Attorney General's office)
I've used this tactic a couple times and wound up with a much better result than I ever expected. Businesses are scared of bad reviews and claims filed against them.
