Is this thread for real? Between my girlfriend and I, we have four felines. All rescues. Neither of us grew up with cats. All of them come when called, two know how to sit.

First up is Ardenvoir, named after a town in Washington that's actually right on the WABDR, and where I lived while working for the USFS right out of college because that was clearly the best use of my business degree. She showed up at Cooper's General Store as a kitten and the rest is history. She's a champion mouser and destroyer of small animals and an all-around fantastic animal. The other three are Solstice (also mine, the black one), and my girlfriend's cats Little Sweet Sister and Big Sassy Girl, or Sweetie and Sassy. We live in Portland so it's pretty easy to get away with crazy statements like "yeah we have four cats in a studio apartment," pretty standard.

Solstice (the black one) was found on my way to work for Osprey Packs in Cortez, CO. As I was pulling in on a zero degree Fahrenheit morning, I thought I saw a chunk of ice in the middle of the road and as I slowed I realized it was a kitten trying to get warm in the sun. No idea how she was surviving nights out like that. She escaped through a fence on the first capture attempt. Same during the lunch break, hiding in the city's maintenance yard next door. Finally got her that afternoon. She's a tiny, quite possibly insane or broken cat that's the runt, picks fights with all the others, and doesn't really know how to meow properly.

Good on you two for being great pet parents and rescuing them!

Does Solstice pick fights with the dog too?

I went to Maui with my family... and all I got was this cat photo!
    20200119_144541.jpg
There were way more cats! I should have taken more pictures! All resorts must keep them for rodent cleaning! Ahhh, the life!

Also, Maui is the "Land of the Tacomas!" I swear, every third vehicle was a Taco!

Absolutely, and the dog (which once unfortunately murdered a marmot in cold blood, which is not cool per LNT) cowers in her presence.

Nope. All the islands have a huge stray problem. With no real predators cats tend to roam and breed quite often. They have nonprofits that just go around catching and neutering them. When we lived there (Oahu) it was actually kind of cool to see all the cats and chickens roaming around everywhere.
