Nice. Been thinking about an LSD (in the future, lift first) but they are some kind of pricey

Dedicated winter tires and weight in the bed. Old friend drove a 94 RWD pickup all around Anchorage and Alaska for 4 years with no issues. He had blizzacks, kitty litter and sand in the bed, and basic recovery gear. Did the same on my 4WD second gen at the time and had no issues, and really didn’t have to use 4wd all that often. I had hankook I-pikes though, which also performed well.

Went alright after. I kept auto lsd enabled the entire way. The roads had 1 cut through it so everything was one lane. Luckily in SOE it’s illegal to be on the roads unless you’re an essential worker. A few drifts were up to the hood but the truck plowed right through them just fine

Nice, one lane is tricky when there is nowhere to go. Last time we had a major snow with drifts up to the hood my dads jeep cracked its radiator and messed up the mounts (transporting essential personnel who didn't have vehicles that could do it). trying to fix that, along with some electrical problems is what swayed me away from getting a jeep and going taco.

All new under the floor, factory frame swap. Bucket seat swap. Bilstein 4600 shocks and X Runner rear swaybar. 4:10 DIfferential. 225/60/17 on Sienna 5 spoke alloy wheels. After market black headlights. OE replica fog lights. OE Intermittent wipers plug and play. Leather steering wheel (OE eBay) that came with a cruise stalk, I bought the $38 OE wire to plug into the clock spring, plug and play.
With 4 Bridgestone Blizzaks sized 225/75/16 it does just fine, way better than most cars. Once it shifts into 2nd (it's a 4 cylinder auto) there's not a lot of juice to keep the tires spinning that much and it just books.
Never been stuck, it has a frame swap and seems to have more ride height than other 5-lugs I see, bigger wheels/tires or not.

Glad to know its not just me. I've noticed first gear has plenty of power and the second it shifts to 2nd gear it almost feels like it shifted into 3rd its so weak lol, pretty annoying when towing

Halfway through a pretty mild winter here in Maine with my 2wd five lugger. Carry enough speed, practice and practice and practice driving in the snow and being comfortable with the tires spinning/sliding. I've got 200 lbs of sand and spare trans in the bed of mine with good studded winter tires on it. Haven't gotten stuck yet and it does some wicked good drifting.

Local snowmobile club I help with just got our trails open and groomed for the first time this year two weeks ago. Club is small enough we don't have a tracked groomer, just wide track sleds with drags. I've carried a couple sleds around in the bed of my poor 5lugger and it's a funny sight!

I gotta say, I went for a ride with 400lbs of sand + ice in the bed, 4 adults in the cab and it was a DOGGG, I accidently short shifted 1st too many times and ended up at 2-3k in 2nd which wont pull away from a downhill stop sign LOL
