Hey all! First post here! I have a 2014 silver double cab sport. I have the stock Dunlops 17” tires on. It’s time for new ones. I don’t want to lift my truck but I don’t think I want Dunlop’s anymore because they seem to dry rot on the sidewalls. Any suggestions? I dunno if straight treads would look weird on this truck or not.

Highly probably tires have a '13 manuf. date (it's on the sidewall)

Seem to be original tires, so 6-7 years old?

Dry rot will get after any tire with enough time and sunlight. If you Armor-all them it will be even worse.

Tire compounds begin to weaken after 2 years or so, and by the 4th to 5th year its time to replace tires, regardless of tread wear, IF you want the grip provided by the rubber.

That said, Dunlops (Dun-flops) are low tier tires. Most anything you chose will be better.

Do you stay on pavement or do you like heading into the bush/mountains?

Hankook dynapro atm’s. Very reasonably priced and great tread life. They’re an AT tread but they’re not overly aggressive. We also got them in P rated to keep any unnecessary weight down. Have them on the wife’s xterra and they’re exactly what we needed and wanted for her car.

    Few questions.

    1. Fuel economy is it critical?
    2. Looks, do you want a more aggressive truck tire?
    3. Region, do you have snow or ice?

The dunlops suck, any tire is an upgrade.

Three popular all weather tires that handle snow and ice, along with day to day well are Cooper AT3 4S, Yokohama Geolander G015 and the Falken Wildpeak AT3.

For highway and durability the Michelin LTX M/S is king.

For moderate price I would go Yokohama H/T or General H/T tire.

I basically just drive to work in this truck and I do the lunch run for everyone. I want an all terrain or all season look I guess.

Michelin Defender LTX M/S great tire quiet, great winter traction. You will be happy with Michelin.

That’ll be a good tire for sure. Just a little less off-road looking than the dynapro at/m.
