    GENERAL GRABBER AT/X 285/75/16 E

    Updated 7-14-20

I recently got a set of the new General Grabber AT/X tires and wanted to write a review. There fairly new I believe they have been out about a year. so I figured I would let everyone know how they are working out for me. I’ll keep this post updated with the dates and miles on them as I go.

NEW- 1st impression was very good I like the solid white letters and the new side wall I also like that yet they updated the tire they kept it mostly like the AT2 which is a proven tire

    5FBE1E69-146D-49B6-A4D0-66DE2E4D50EC.jpg

500 miles- these tires are fairly quiet and smooth. Not the smoothest A/T out there but not the loudest ether I’m very happy with how they ride on the pavement and in the snow/rain so far. The first couple hundred miles they would throw some rocks but after about 200 they have stopped

1000 miles- January now so winter driving some dry pavement some wet from ether melting snow or rain and some sand on top of the pavement. These have performed very well in all categories so far as they should being new and an A/T tire. Still loving them.

2500 miles- these were great all winter (wishful thinking it’s over lol) we had a lot of snow this year and these these were great in every way. They still look new as they should. Noise lvl is still the same as new. (Quiet for an AT.) hoping for some light mud testing in the next few weeks as the snow is melting fast.

    10,000 miles
Tires still looking new and performing as the should. I really like how they perform in the rain and wet roads. It’s almost like driving on dry pavement. The little tire noise is still the same as day 1.

    15,000 miles
winter is in full swing and I have done some driving in the snow. They are great! The go through deep snow with ease. My only complaint would be hard packed snow in parking lots or driveways. They tend to spin very easy.(this may be because our trucks are so light in the back.) but put it in 4x4 and it will go anywhere. They also handle the slush better than any other tire I have had. You still feel the truck want to pull towards the side you hit the slush on but I feel like these cut through the slush and that’s is less floating than most tires. Also. They are starting to no longer look new but at 15k I can’t complain. Still lots of life left. I’ll get a picture soon.

30k on these now and they are still performing great. They are starting so show some wear but I am very impressed with them. It looks like I still have more than half tread. I’ve gone on a few trails lately and I have no complaints. Mostly dirt and rocky trails. The 10ply definitely helped and held up well with the rocks. I’m very impressed with them. If I would have to say something I didn’t like about the is that The road noise could be quieter but that dose not bother me

How do they track? Is it mostly straight line, constant correction, or some combination?

It’s mostly straight. I drive mostly back roads so kinda hard to test it lol. But when I have they seem dead on

I don't always resurrect old threads but interested to know how you are liking these or if you even still have them on.

I'm also curious as to how well they balanced? My AT2's were a bitch

I've got about 20k on mine (265/70 17 on sema wheels) and wouldn't buy them again or even recommend them. They aren't overly noisy but I find them kind of annoying at highway speeds, mainly hear a cyclical droning sound from the back. Also had a couple issues with getting them balanced correctly. The stock Goodyear kevlar's were much smoother and quieter from what I remember. (I only put 700 miles on the stock tires.) Mine still have plenty of life left but I will probably be swapping them out for something else sometime soon. I've had them on two different trucks (18 sport and 20 OR) and I felt like they were an upgrade from the stock sport tires and a downgrade from the stock kevlars on the OR.

Edit: also forgot to add that they do decent in fresh snow but not too great on ice.

Stock tires are almost always going to be quieter and smoother. That’s why manufacturers use what they do. They want the smoothest ride they can get so people buy their product. This Usually sacrifices performance and longevity. Just my .02

They are very similar but they have used this pattern for a long time with the A/T2 as well
