Graphic Anomaly

Saw this 97 lx for sale today with 95-96 sr5 graphics. Weird. Didn’t have any sr5 options just the stripes on the sides.

 

Taking a guess here...
The stripes are from James Dean, and he doesn't offer a decal kit for post '96 models. So maybe the truck received a partial repaint or the owner just really liked the early splash graphics?

The tailgate is correct, right?

Paradise blue might not have been the most popular color at the time, but it sure does look great now.

Did you look at the VIN tag?
Maybe it's a very early MY97 and they were still using the old graphics?

 

January/97. But the 97 model year starts before January

 

yeah, i like those much more compared to what i have, too old now to recall having my eye on those at the lot until i had the DP/trade value for this one,
but what could i do
took me almost 2 years busting it

 

Sr5 is meaningless. The only thing you're guaranteed to have is the graphics.

 

those are the graphics my dads 95 sr5 had theyre original

till 97 sr5 was the highest trim tacoma you could get

the only tacoma to get a door activated dome light were 95-97 sr5s

 

perhaps post 97 its meaningless

 

I know my 01 sr5 had power nothing, a full list of options weren't installed, no money was spent! Manual locks and windows, no cruise,But no internal wipers, standards radio. But it had the badges.

The base sr5 only added chrome mirrors, grill, and trim around the wheel wells. Everything else was an option, and the exact same options were available without the chrome. It's really just a carryover from the 70s when it was an upgrade package with the 5spd tranny. Now saying you have an sr5 is like bragging your shoes are white.

And really in the Tacoma sr5 means Significant Rust in 5 years...
