This was a long time in the making, and in fact, I'm STILL not done, lol. I don't think I'll realistically ever be "done" with it, lol. It's a slow process, because: life. The shed was put up almost a year ago (March 2019) and I'm just now getting around to organizing, and finishing it off. I guess when I've been waiting like 20 years for something like this, another year ain't too bad to wait, lol.

To start, it's just your basic 16x20 barn style Tuff Shed. I usually do most of my own work, but let me tell you, it was nice to leave one day for work with this:

and come home from work one day to see this:

Once the structure was done and passed inspection, I started in on the wiring with a little help from my daughter:

I ended up with 7 separate circuits on a 60 amp sub panel. 1 for lights (inside LEDs and outside motion censors), 2 for wall receptacles, a dedicated line for A/C, 2 dedicated welder circuits (110 and 220v), and shore power for the RV. That should suffice for now, lol

Again, I had a guy come and pull line thru the attic of the house (I am NOT crawling up there again!) and run it to the sub panel, but I did everything else.

Wife and daughter decided to help with the insulation. This is a fancy affair...(according to my daughter, *everything* deserves fancy)

I also did the insulation and drywall. I am TERRIBLE at drywall... and never want to see another 4x8 sheet of sheet rock in my life.

Now the fun begins: tool cabinet and workbench assembly
Again with help from my daughter and my son decided to help, too.

Just something to hold a beer off the floor...

    Welding nook:

Here's a view with my other workbench, drill press and the center island that is my fabrication station. I typically roll it outside for most of the grinding/welding. Was going to build one but after pricing out materials and my time, this ~$400 job from Home Depot fit the bill. I just want some better casters...

Still room for the bike, too.

Anyhoo, nothing too special, but it got me out of the garage (which is now a game room/pool hall)

I've since added a few more shelves and some pegboard

I love your new space! I'm in high school and i'm lucky enough to borrow my parents garage sometimes. One day I want land and im going to build a garage. Im thinking of large metal ones and use them for income by storing cars and boats. for now im going to keep dreaming lol.

Yeah, my previous house just didn't have any space for a "shop", I barely had a small corner of the 2 car garage. and even this house the yard isn't *that* big. Nearly half an acre is enough for now, though.

Once my kids are in/through high school (maybe sooner, who knows), wife and I plan a move up to the hills with some good acreage and dark skies (we're telescope nerds). Hopefully we'll find a place with a shop that I can really stretch out in. Something that I can park the truck in and do all my fab work with climate control.

Don't tell my wife I said that. She's still suffering sticker shock form this one, lol

Sure, if I want to buy a couple acres of land in the Bay Area, you'd be looking at a couple mil for the land alone.

But I don't want to live anywhere near there. That's insane.

Since I bought my house on the low end of the market (during the last crash), and it's now doubled in price, I'm in a pretty good position. Ideally, I'll sell this house right before the market crashes again, then buy a new place for pennies on the dollar.

Luckily, the type of property I want isn't what everyone else wants. I want small house, big lot. Most people want their McMansions.
