4runner fender year compatibility

I know many of you guys are 4runner drivers as well, so you may know the answer to this. I need to replace the fender on an 06 4runner, and have heard that any fender from 03-09 will work, but also heard that the it has to be from 06-09 so I would like to clarify before pulling the trigger.

Thanks, posted there as well before, they confirmed the fenders are different.
