Have a "study abroad" trip from May 27th to June 14th to SanJose.
Anyone have suggestions for places to visit or things that I need to do. Planning to have alot of free time, with only 5 days of actual class time. So far, we are suppose to hike a volcano, white-water raft and go snorkeling....with the group.

    Any suggestions are welcome

You could probably get a puddle jumper from San Jose to Jaco for $50

Been there a few times. Its a cool place. Use interbus to get around if you're going to the beaches or up to "the volcano". Its cheap. If you're talking about Arenal volcano region, there is some hot springs up there. The hike is pretty tame. Don't go off path though. A few tourists did that while I was there once and 2 of them broke hips/femur and had to wait damn near a full day before they could get airlifted off the mountain. It's not like the USA! Manuel Antonio is another good area on the beach. Or Nosara.

Some shit I got on craigslist
I studied abroad there for like 6 months way back when and have been a handful of times since. My suggestion would be to try to make it to Montezuma and go to the waterfalls/beach ect. You can take a bus/ferry/bus there from the Coca Cola station (5 hr trip). Or pop on a boat across the Gulfo Nicoya from Jaco.

If you want to party go to Jaco and surf playa Hermosa.

San Jose kinda sucks tbh. So I wouldn't recommend staying there unless you're in class. If you got some spare student loans to blow check out Hotel Del Rey; might be the best learning experience in your college career:drool:...

Exactly what jds said. Jaco to party. San Jose isn't that great.

I was lucky and went with my friend who had lived there.

Another good surf spot is Playa Avellanas.

We were at a newer all inclusive resort about hour north of Playa Avellanas. Best resort I've been to in my life.
